questions, grow on fruiting stage
    #8700417 - 07/30/08 12:45 AM (16 years, 5 months ago)

Okay, so I inoculated my jars, let them sit for a while, and after 100% colonization I dunked them. After the 24 hour dunk, I put them in my fruiting chamber which is humidified by perlite. The temp is ~74 or so, and I am giving it FAE a few times a day as well as misting.

The thing that makes me question its growth is that it on the second day I put them in the chamber, one cake started growing a small abort of the side of it, this within the first 24/48 hours of moving them from dunk to fruit. Im worried because none of the other cakes are showing anything like this, and Im sure its probably an abort because of the dark top color.

In addition to the dark top, it also has a somewhat fat stem, which I heard means there is too much humidity, so I have stopped spraying as much. The only growth I see other than that is the mycelium of the cake kind of bubbling up. I would love to say pinning but I dont know if its the same thing.

Is the abort okay? Why is it so early?
If the other cakes arent doing anything and its 3/4 days in, thats still okay right?

Be patient. Keep up the RH and FAE. Your "bubbles" sound like primordia. That's good. :goodluck:

did you notice any pins before you dunked? maybe that cake had begun to pin before hand and dunking stunted its growth?  24 hrs does seem kinda quick for pins to already have formed. this is there first flush right?

i noticed it was getting things that looked like goosebumps, and the mycelium was thick not to mention one of the other cakes had primordia on it, so i figured it was time to dunk and roll. and then fruit.

Yeah I understand, I waited a few days to a week after I noticed they were completely covered and think. When i checked on them after that Is when I saw the primordia and thought it might be best to start fruiting them then.
