It just needs to stop air flow. So unless there is a fan directly above you, you'll be fine.

Sure, but don't introduce a flame anywhere near that thing after spraying it with Lysol. When you're ready to work you can spray the air inside with plain water (as RR recommends) to help settle any contaminants. Remember, the purpose of a glovebox isn't to make a perfectly sterile environment; instead it is a still air space to work inside of. Where are your arm holes though??? ~Pixie~

Really, but wouldn't making the glove box sterile get rid of contaminants completely, rather than settle them. or is than an advantage to settling contaminants?

Assuming that what I thought you meant is what you actually meant, it's really hard to get rid of completely all containment but with a glove box you get rid of a very high amount of them making it a lot better than inoculating in open air. Make sure to bleach spray the box once it is made, and then every time you inoculate spray with Lysol before use. The purpose of a glove box is to sterilize an area for inoculation and then keep fresh un-sterilized air out of the sterile area, in order to keep the area sterilized for longer periods of time.

How is that possible? Unless you keep the flame to sterilize inside the glove box?

Exactly! People probably get all amped up and keep a lighter or alcohol lamp inside and forget bout spraying alcohol in the box and boom...Quick flash fire!
