Hey guys, here are my cakes from my first grow.  Can you please tell me if the fuzzy puffy growth I see is cobweb mold or even a contam at all?  I poked it and it collapsed but didnt really rub off or anything- it was pretty stiff (not like hard but like...it resisted and felt stretchy) and could have been mycellium maybe but does that happen? It didnt really look like cobweb at all...

Also, check out those baby shrooms!! Im so excited.  I hope I get to eat them someday.  Ive never tripped

You should probably post a regular image file like jpg or gif rather than a photoshop psd file that very few people will be able to open.

This thing is not letting me upload photos...there are two on my account that are in my home folder that I want up with this post- how do I get them on?  I have tried everything.  It won't even let me put them up from a photobucket.

Sorry, I couldn't get a good photo of how puffy my cake looked without turning the flash off so it made it that weird color.

I dont see any cobweb mold. Beginner growers like me often confuse new mushrooms growth for cobweb. I would put some foil under your cakes though to seperate it from the perlite.

Oh, yeah. You don't want your cake sitting on the perlite. :tongue2:

So I picked up my cakes and put them on foil and they had like an inch of perlite stuck to the bottom and colonized with more little shrooms in it.

How do I take care of my cakes? The Tek I am following says nothing about spraying them with water.  Was I supposed to dunk them in some water and roll them in vermiculite?  How do I get them to keep fruiting after a few flushes?  Can I just clip the mature shrooms to the front of a fan for a few days to dry them?

  • How do I take care of my cakes?

Use TLC.

  • Was I supposed to dunk them in some water and roll them in vermiculite?

Woulda been good.

  • How do I get them to keep fruiting after a few flushes?

Dunk between flushes. If you get three flushes, everything after that is probably a bonus.

  • Can I just clip the mature shrooms to the front of a fan for a few days to dry them?

Yes.

Wow. That's a lot of questions. Let me see if I can think of a website where you can find all those answers... Wait... Wait... I'm thinking...

Have you tried doing a search on www.shroomery.org?
