why do my cakes dry out so fast?

you know after dunking them how they weigh so much?  well mine dry out pretty quick and get lighter and lighter.

my RH is 98% all the time
temps are perfect

WTF?


btw they are pf tek brf cakes in a shotgun fc

No really,this is pretty normal for them to lose weight,you may want to tape up some of your holes and recheck your hygrometer cause if they are really drying out it may not be 98% like you think it is,that just my guess but its worth a try and if your still having problems there is always good old fashioned misting :thumbup:

Try casing the top with verm and adding a teaspoon of water whenever you notice the vermiculite reservior gets dry.

Be cautious not to overwater.

because it has 2 tiny pins that have stayed smaller than a 1/4''  so its not really doing anything productive.

5-6 inches of moist perlite.

its like i have to mist every couple hours to maintain wet cakes
