1/2 pint jars substitutes

I have searched and found nothing. There are no 1/2 pint jars in my area, nothing, nowhere! So I have to substitute them with something else but I don't know what. Mickey Rourke, you suggested shot glasses, that is great and all except i dont have too many. Can someone please help me on this?

Is this a joke? You live in the fucking third largest metropolitan area in the United States, and you can?t find canning jars or anything to use for PF? What exactly do you need help with?specifically? Do you want us to tell you somewhere that sells shot glasses? There are probably a few places in Chicago that have them. Do you want us to give you the address of a website that sells canning jars?
Order some fucking jars, or go look for some tapered glasses. Or just do casings so that tapered containers aren?t terribly important. You have plenty of options?I mean, seriously?how fucking hard is this? You live in one of the largest cities in the most advanced civilization on this planet, and all you need are some fucking glass containers. This is ridiculous.
And my advice is to not use shot glasses?just too small, IMO. But if you don?t mind the hassle, then go ahead. Oh, and if you go to a large grocery store, there is a very good chance that you will find some jelly sold in 4-8 oz jars that would work well. Have a toast party and then use the jars. There are plenty of things you could do.

Chicago is the biggest city, and that's why im not gonna fucking drive to the other side of it looking for jars! Buy a bunch of shot glasses!? They cost more than jars! Im not gonna order a bunch of presterilized jars to my house when I can easily subs. them for something else.

Hilarious Mech. Man. Seriously sixcee, did you try Jewel? They're only the biggest grocer in Illinois and every Jewel I've ever been in has pint and half-pint jars. There's also pint and half-pint jars at a small obscure chain called Wal-mart, but such specialty markets are only for the hardcore shroom-heads.

BTW, if you did a decent job searching the forums you would have found ways of getting canning jars or subs. I already told you some things you could do, since you couldn?t fucking handle this on your own. go to some hardware stores and ask someone who works there where the canning jars are. you can also get vermiculite and perlite there.

heh,... thats pretty hard to believe that chicago doesnt have at least 1 dozen kerr 1/2 pint canning jars in that whole city...
hell u can buy some over the internet, u can even buy presterilized substrate ones...
or u can use shot glasses, drinking glasses, other sized jars.... they work no different than jars... just maybe easier to contam...

ill buy you some jars and send them to you @ cost if you want (cost of jars plus shipping cost. the only problem is that havent found any wide mouth half pints. so if you want them for cakes its not a good idea, but if you dont mind scooping them out and casing them, then this would be fine. the actuall cost of the jars is going to be under 10 dollars, and im nbot sure about shipping, but if you really want them ill help you out. pm me or just responde and we'll work it out. good luck:) phil

dude my god, walmart has them, if not there try dollar stores or anything. i swear walmart has them, grocery stores have them. if all else fails go to fucking walmart and buy those small plastic 6 oz juice cups. i used two of those and they are colonizing faster than the half pint jars

*edit* a box of 12 jars at walmart is like $7

there is a great dilema in the city of chicago.....the whole city's stock of canning jars have been.....STOLLEN!!!  (probably by mechanical man) the suspect is said to be on a shrooming rampage, after eating nearly 30 dry grams he believes that the city of chicago is planning on using these canning jars for world destruction :shocked:

Dont go to grocery, i searched grocery stores a long time ago and no luck. Try K-Mart, Wal-Mart, Zellers or any general house supplies store. It cant be that hard, especially if you live in a huge fuckin city like Chicago!

Well then you shouldn't grow mushrooms. You need to put some effort into it, and it starts with driving around for supplies. I drove around for an entire day, a whole fuckin day looking for Dessicant and didnt find any but at least i tried!

Its not that hard, really its not!

If you have any of these stores in your area , go to them , it is where I found mine .
BIG LOTS , MACFRUGALS , GREEN BACKS . The first store is where I found mine , if you have none of these stores ........Go to doitbest.com , then do a search there for canning jars . They are priced okay , but the shipping cost kick up the price a bit .
