peat moss is commonly used as part of a casing layer to put on top of the substrate to provide moisture and a microclimate for primoria and pin formation.. search 50/50 casing or casing mix.. you will see what it is..

I was not able to find vermiculite at my local Home Depot, but I did find some at a hydroponics shop.
I recommend using google maps, zoom over where you live (or where you want to go to get some) and search "garden" or "indoor garden".
I'm sure you'll find some. If not, order online. Make sure to get the small stuff.

Ask your local hardware store, garden center, or nursery to order some into the store for you. Don't buy it if they want to charge you for shipping. ~Pixie~

Yeah, seriously, don't pay for shipping on something like vermiculite. Folks who are paying to have things like perlite, peat moss, vermiculite, etc. shipped to their home are chumps (sorry); except in rare instances. I know not everyone has a good local source for some things (maybe coir, oyster shell flour, organic rye berries) but most of us do, if we look around and ask questions. Hell, even a lot of grocery stores have small garden centers...they will order things into the store at no charge, in the same way that they will special order a food product with no shipping charge. Folks who say that there local Lowes Hardware or BlahMart doesn't carry vermiculite are usually not asking the folks who work there. ~Pixie~

It depends on the application as to whether or not you can substitute vermiculite. As a casing layer, peat can be used exclusively without many issues, although I would highly recommend adding a PH buffer to it. If you're talking about substituting verm in a BRF/verm cake, peat can still be used, but it's very acidic and will need to be buffered for sure. Verm would be MUCH more ideal.

Here is a link Verm this is a pretty good deal the bag is huge and should last a good while.. Or you could try mycosupply.com but I think they only sell 16 quart bags and that bag I linked you to is like 126 quarts so it's better to buy in bulk it's cheaper I also buy my perlite from the same people.. Perlite Same deal it comes in 4 cubic foot bags which is 126 quarts worth.. so it's like buying 8 bags of it from myco supply..
So lets see Worms Way 126 quarts for 32 bucks
Myco supply 126 quarts would cost you 79 dollars...
So buy in bulk

Add shipping charges and that $32 will turn into $50+ real fast.
I found a wholesale supplier locally that sells to nurseries and landscapers. Call all of the nurseries in your area and ask them if they have vermiculite. If they don't have it, ask if they know any place that might have it. I called about 8 places one day before I got lucky and one of the nurseries gave me the number to the wholesale place. I pay $8.75 per bag now for the 4 cubic foot bags and they have no minimum order if you go and pick it up yourself.
If you don't have any luck finding it, PM me and I'll send you some for free, but you'll have to pay shipping.

Home Depot should most definitely have it, either that or check Lowes. I think I purchased my last bag at Lowes in the garden section. They had it on sale on an endcap, I'd assume all stores are generally the same, so check either one of those places!
If not, check ebay. You can find pretty much anything there.

It is a deal considering the fact you would spend $80 plus the price of gas to try and wrangle it up.. So yes it is a deal...

$80? The most I ever paid for a 4 cubic foot bag of verm at a retail store was $14, maybe $20 at a hydro store with jacked up prices. I get the same size bag for less than $9 now. Please explain how paying $32 is a deal even if you get free shipping?
BTW, what's with the "fuck ass" and middle finger smileys? You're reacting like I would expect someone to after I sodomized their mother without lube. Relax, I'm just telling you you're paying too much for verm.
