best way to treat water in pmp?
    #8682761 - 07/26/08 01:32 AM (16 years, 5 months ago)

i read ever bit of the original pmp thread(wow!) and as much as i could find searching. i've heard many different stories about how people treat, or don't treat their water in the pmp. most of those posts are old and there isn't a whole lot new being said about pmp's in general. some say you don't need to treat it at all but that just doesn't seem like the IDEAL situation. bleach gives off bad fumes for the mushies and peroxide evaps away, from what i understand. i did hear someone mention using saline water, basically mix as much salt into water as it will take and use that. sounds fairly good. sterile enough for a FC,salt is left behind as water evaps so the salt content should stay high as you add replacement water. what do you guys think?

If you can smell the bleach "fumes" then you have added too much. A cap-full per three gallons keeps things from growing in the water.

Nothing wrong with H2O2 justme! (Covering my ass there, he kills people for a living...)

Why don't you use chlorine if you don't like what everyone else does.

(Crap, I think some people use chlorine!)

nothing added at all? hmm. well that's good to hear. do you run them for batch after batch or do you have down time between them to clean it out? i guess rumors of the pmp's demise have been greatly exaggerated. you don't hear about them much so i was almost starting to believe the rumors that it was a bunk tek.

just heard bad things about it. but again, who knows. with this hobby there's always people who swear by something and others that swear against it.
