How do you tell that the mushroom is active if you know what type it is... I dont have a shroom to show or to ID but I am just asking. Is it when its fully matured or is there something else...

Many times it will stain blue, Corey. Of course there are other factors to consider. If it grows on poo, and stains blue, it's a winner.

So even if it's very tiny and a active type it's active. It doesn't matter about the size.

Yeah I was going to go with some people but we didn't have a ride then he had family stuff the next day... :[ I went anyway with one friend found nothing... So it seems that if it rains to much! shrooms will not grow and if the sun is HOT! they will die...
I live in texas south of houston and it did rain alot and the sun is HOT!...

Your best bet is to keep looking. I can find mushrooms when the weather is pretty bad. Sometimes a cow will crap in a protected area away from the wind and the sun. Those are better places when the weather is too hot or the wind has been blowing.

Corey, beware that a variety of non-active and sometimes poisonous mushrooms will also stain blue or blue-green, but they are typically boletes (mushrooms with spongy pores instead of gills).
The best way to find an active mushroom is to become familiar with active species that can be found in your part of the country and identifying promising mushrooms you find to species. If you don't have the patience for careful mycology, it is probably best that you turn to the blackmarket instead (simply because the risk of accidental poisoning is quite high when trying to find active mushrooms in the wild). This is particularly true for muscimol-active Amanitas and "small brown" psilocybes that can be mistaken for deadly mushrooms (which are common in most parts of the USA).

Yawn ever since I went hunting I have been a night crawler! lol I can't sleep at night... I have a ride to go hunting again.. Sucks and the place I saw no cows but I found their shit.. The shrooms I have found I just threw out in my yard.

While all that is true, one doesn't necessarily have to be a trained mycologist or go to the depth you suggested IF some simple common rules are followed carefully.
Are there blue staining mushrooms that grow on poo that are poisonous? No, there aren't. However, your advice is particularly helpful because sometimes we only see blue-staining because that is what we want to see.
I don't know how many times I have read a description and tried to make the mushroom fit the description instead of the other way around.

Sorry, I wasn't meaning that one need to be an all-out mycologist, simply that the basic "mycological" practices of spore-printing and careful comparisons with literature descriptions are needed. True, I haven't heard of toxic blue-staining "poo shrooms," but strongly blue-staining terrestrial mushrooms that can be toxic are common enough during the summer to warrant mention to new mushroom hunters.

Smokin' the peace pipe?
N2loma, yes, as I said, it was good advice. N00bs can get in trouble easily. It's always better safe than sorry. Hence, my sig line (if you can see it).
