I need some adive from people that actually want to help instead of tryin to look smart

SO this is my 2nd grow but first casing grow, my main question is should i crumble my cakes, split them, or case them whole? Ive heard by crumbling you have to wait a week or so for the casing to recolonize itself before pinning. I guess the real goal here is to get a good yield with the least risk of contam, i feel like i will have a larger window for contams if i crumble up the cakes. i have seen crazy good grows with whole cakes cased, but i read that if you split them it will double the size of your flushes, so tell me what you think, thanks alot

you can get 10 times the flush easily by crumbling the cakes into pasteurized manure, spawning.

you pretty much have it...
like u said youve seen some good flushes with cased whole cakes, but to get more inoculation points and a more even pinset, crumbling would be the way to go. however, like you also said, theres a bit more chance of contam with crumbling. say your cakes are fully colonized on the outside and you case them whole, they have a "contam barrier" to the uncolonized middle.
but if you crumble and you miss a few uncolonized spots, all the nasty buggers like to eat that shit up.
MAYBe, you should crumble half and do a casing, and then put the other half in whole and case and determine which way is for you.
theres plenty of ppl here who would say its retarded to waste your time casing a whole cake, and crumble to bulk always, but its up to you.
also if you are going to case a whole cake, i think itd be better to just dunk and roll

Unless you are spawning to bulk, casing cakes is retarded. You'll get more yield and flushes if you fruit them as cakes.

im surprised anyone wanted to help homey after his crappy thread title. one second you're trying to help and the next you're a know-it-all.
at least he knows that we are all bound by ancestral honor and the will of the gods to help him in exactly the manner he demands.
anyways, crumble and spawn to a substrate of your choice if you want to increase your yield.

My first reply, to the original post, was not to 'Look smart', it was to help you out - but I appreciate you being a sny, unappreciative a-hole. Makes not helping people easier.
If I wanted to look smart - I'd factor trinomials on your thread.

haha nah man its not that like that, anyways, ive been considering spawning since the contam risk is just about the same as a casing but my main question is could i go get natural equine dung from the pasture as long as i sterilze/pasturize it? Im sure there dung is quite nutritious, they are very well fed.

There is no better place to get manure, (straight from the horses ass). Get the oldest stuff you can find. Firefang is beneficial. You can actually use any herbivore's scat. Horse shit has a nice texture to it though.

The yield from casing cakes, of course, depends on many things - contamination, how you case, all the usual stuff. But as far as more fruits / bigger flushes and all of that, you have to realize that generally 1 cake, 2 if you want some really ass kicking flushes goes into one casing.
So if you use 1 cake per casing, with 6 cakes, thats 6 casings flushing several times - in my opinion the only thing giving you better yields would be the environmet (lighting, humidity, etc) and contamination factor.
Plus casing gives you the much needed experience to grow bigger, and better

And as far as your question goes - I personally have crumbled them in the past, but I was far less knowledgeable then. I've read several places its best to slice them into cucumber sized slices, probably because it retains more of the mycelium network to fight contamination. Then use the stuff that crumbles off of it to fill in the gaps between your slices.
Though as for as contaminations go in a casing, I wouldn't worry so much about the size of the mycelia chunks, but the environment. I've layed quite a few casings to waste over watering.

Crumble it up really good to give it a grain-like texture, that way you can practice for grain casing. In reality, you will not get more weight from casing a cake as opposed to fruiting it the usual way(dunk/roll) because there is still the same amount of substrate. Casing is fun though. You'll really have to do it for yourself, its way better than letting other people tell you how it works.
