Lids? Tight or Loose during PC?
    #868577 - 09/07/02 08:21 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

About to pc some jars and i was just curious if the lids need to be on loosely or tight when sterilizing in pc. Heard that if there on tight and tape is over them they'll suckin contams?? .5 pints with substrate and tape over 4 holes is the setup. Any ideas thanks guys

Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

Loose with foil over lids is the only way to go.If the lids are tight it causes a vaccume seal that will empty a syringe instantly(personal experience)

About 1/2 turn loose & tighten when you remove from PC & shake the jars, while still hot. SixTango

Sorry.

The Raccoon doesnt do "cakes".

He tried it once, long ago & thought it was to much effort -- for a small returm.

He didn't mean to misinform or confuse -- you .

He does bulk basic bird seed via G2G transfers w/filter disks - quart & half gallons for spawn to bulk substrates (compost or pasturized dung/straw combo) .

So, he is not "up" on what your doing .

He was thinking " bird seed" spawn jars when he answered this post .

SixTango

It will indeed.

Only if the holes are taped, if they aren't, it doesn't matter, loose or tight

Good luck
