There is no use in PC'ing it empty.
Fill it with water and PC. Then the water will be sterile and ready for use.
or...
Don't PC. Boil water. Suck up water till full. Let sit two minutes. Discard down drain. Reapeat two more times. Final time, let liquid cool completely.
At this time, either method will have provided a final product of a clean syringe with sterile water.
Look up syringe teks for methods of introducing spores to the water.

Fill it with water, wrap it with tin-foil, leave the plastic cap off the needle, make sure the needle is pointing UPWARD. It helps to PC it with some jars.

Answer: Because they're ugly and they stink.

i dont wrap. should i?
just put them needle up in the PC filled with distilled water. like they said, then you have a nice sterile syringe.
you can take ur prints then and make a quick spore syringe.

Well the reason I ask water or not is because I don't actually need the water I have a 1 quart jar of Golden Teacher LC

Throw it in the pressure cooker and try to make sure it won't melt. Pressure and heat will take care of the rest.
You do not need water in the syringe to sterilize it.

Read his post. He plans to use the syringe to inject a liquid culture that he already has, so he doesn't need any sterilized water.
His question was phrased clearly and concisely and the answer should have been simple, too. One way or the other, it makes no difference to the sterility of the syringe whether there is water in it or not.

<<You dont have to be so..... , i went on the original post........he or she didnt specify whether it was for a spore solution for inoculation or a LC......so i guess with that, it wasnt as you say "clear and concise! Original post....Quote:

I didn't offer any insult but you're free to take one wherever you please. I answered a question and you responded (to my post and not the original one) without reading the post immediately prior to my own. I simply pointed that out and you can apply whatever tone to it that you wish.
The question was, in fact, very clear and concise. He didn't ask about killing birds or how many stones he should use to do it, he asked whether or not it was necessary to put water in a syringe to sterilize it in a pressure cooker. That question has been answered, so let's let this thread drop.

Here's a post by RR that I found in this thread that gives another take on whether to PC syringes:
Quote:
I've posted this for years, but there's absolutely NO reason to pc syringes. All you need to do is boil in water for an hour or so. In fact, I boil them right up until it's time to take them out and use. RR
If you're going to PC some jars anyways, then sure, throw in a few syringes at the same time. But I thought it was worth mentioning that if all that you wanted to do was sterilize a syringe, then using the PC wasn't necessary.

I would recommend as the above did. Wrap in foil.
Or seal in a bag before PC'ing
This avoids any contams when taking it out of the pc and transferring to your "Sterile Environment"
Good Luck

just suck in boiling water, empty the syringe and fill it up again, do it for like 2-3 times and everything in the syringe will be killed.

Sweet I'll just do what RR suggested, boiling in water cause of course everyone knows he is the man
Another question if people are still looking I am thinking about doing some mono tubs too but.. I am not sure how to light them.. I have some 6500 kelvin compact fluerscents.. But I am not sure how to get the light into the mono tub, I was thinking about like mounting the light some how into the tub but then there is an electrical hazard ??
