I have a 5 pound compost bag with the myco filter thingy......
it does not have a self healing inoculation point........
My question is what kind of tape should i use to seal this..... does it really matter or will regular scotch tape work?
thanks!

None. Use an impulse sealer or steel tie wire. RR

use sterile tech and inoc. into the bag just above the grain/compost. and cover with electric tape or micro pore tape, also i thought u where supposed to use the compose to grow bulk? IE throw some colonized grains/brf cakes in the bag??

yeah....I bought a kit from a local store that came with a rye bag and a compost bag....
the rye bag became contaminated due to lack of oxygen which I now know was completely my fault.....
i'm hoping to still be able to use the compost bag......
plus i have BRF cakes going but the are taking what seems like FOREVER to colonize........its' been a month and i have have very little growth.....
haha if ya cant tell... i'm new.....

I use micropore and clear duct tape sometimes to seal the tops of my 'filter patch' bags I get from sponsors.
I just seal flat, fold, seal, fold, seal. This takes about 4 folds, but After Pcing, I know that it's sealed. The clear duct tape actually kindof melts into a harder form of tape. Pretty cool.
Also, I would probably use some type 'self sealing' port. maybe RTV or Silicone. I have troubles getting the ports to stick to bags, but you never know.

it's the heat for some reason plastics don't want to stick to silicone when you heat them.

Anytime I have put a silicon blob on a bag it falls off eventually.
HOWEVER
Put a blob of silicon (or RTV) somewhere on the filter patch AFTER PCing. Works like a charm!!

I missed that you just wanted to cover the inoculation hole. Any tape that sticks will do for that.
However, you can't inoculate compost with spores. You needed those grains. Perhaps when your brf cakes are done, you can use one or two to inoculate the compost bag. RR
