Well I was working today I saw SHROOMS! :] I have been interested in trying so this would be my first time. I was woundering if what I picked is edable and groovy... They are small about from root to top is about 3in long and the cap is atleast 1cm they have tan top white strife :] stem lol. white gils but black spores... They were found on Black mulch after the rain yesterday in Texas. I made my own packet for hunting for these delictables! The only ones that these could be are panaeolus cyanescens or panaeolus subbalteatus. If they are one of these are they still good if they have yet to mature?
I would

Pics would help, if they were cyans you would be seeing blue bruising, also cyans grow right on dung usually I also, don't think they are cyans or subbs because of the white gills, they are brown.

No they arent active sorry pan cyans (copes) do not grow in wood/mulch piles
pan subbs grow on manure and in well manicured lawns (grass)
What you want is Psilocybe cubensis (or pan cyans) they grow side by side on cow fields in poop
Heres my Psilocybe cubensis pictorial http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8045055/an/0/page/0
Pan subbs grow in lawns look at this guide to ID them http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7008112#7008112
There are also gyms in teh woods which are orange but a little harder to ID for noobs
Take some pictures of the mushrooms so we can properly id them

Much better, Corey.
One could be Marasmellius and the other could be Psathyrella. I'd need more details to say for sure.

Well it was on mulch which was black. the first ones I picked had tan tops tanishwhite gils with I think black spore print those I put in my pocket then in a truck until 4 then in freezer but those the caps turned black.(dog shit everywhere but did not grow on it if it helps. the second ones same mulch but different they were bigger in the stem and had tanish orange caps with tanishwhite gills but I think tanish spore print. the other ones were just randomly on a chair a wooden one.
My research says that pan cyanescens are tan at first becoming light grey in age these are the smaller type of shroom that live in texas. pan subbalteatus says here that fertilized laws and after it rains(it rained for 2 days) staining blue when bruised.
I personaly pinched one and licked my fingers I feel weird just a little.

Didnt your research also tell you than copes ONLY grow from cow dung? (not even horse poop) they arent pan cyans
you are going to get your self killed, enjoy your liver failure one day.
Also pan subbs grow from well manicured/sodded lawns NOT mulch

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

A friend of mine pinched a mushroom and put his fingers in his mouth on accident too, he also got this "weird feeling", followed by "tingly feelings on scalp", all culminating in shitting his pants.

Looks like a classic Hemispheric Agrocybe/P. subb mixture; I find the two together frequently in lawns, while the Agrocybe will also grow in mulch.
The "black mulch" could be the stuff I find on lawns that spawn plenty of Pan subbs; it is likely manure-based. You'd need at least a couple handfuls of the subbies to feel significant effects.

lol dude i dont think it was deadly it might have been poisonous i was just saying is all
in texas stick with cow fields pan cyan (copes) and psilocybe cubnesis (cubes) http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/8045055/an/0/page/0
Pan subbs (subbs) are some of the more common ones which grow in lawns http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7008112#7008112
There are also some that grow in the woods called gyms, they are orange and bruise blue but you cant just eat any orange mushroom you find in the woods
Have fun and happy hunting
