More HQ edibles, lots of boletus edulis in very tasty condition!

Ok, so I guess I got my brother in law jealous with the chanterelle and bolete pics I sent him, so  we went out today to check if the warm weather hadn't interfered with the fruiting process. Turns out it hasn't. Not by a long shot. The photography is less impressive, but we did manage to get a good 6-8lbs of mainly b. edulis. We didn't have to chuck any due to infestations, so we were there at precisely the right moment. Once more, for your enjoyment exclusively (for the moment ):

Note the netted pattern, it really comes out nicely in the first pic:

We also stumbled across some tiny chanterelles, we left them to mature and to sporulate. There were quite a few pins as well, a good shower would do them good:

B. erythropus seems to like these ditches. The second pic are the same ones frommy previous post after two days of maturing:

Some more very tasty looking b. edulis:

We also found two species of suillus, growing right next to each other:

Cleaning and cutting, make ready for sauteeing in butter and storing them in the freezer. My niece was kind enough to help, although she positively revolted at the idea of having to eat them. It probably has to do with her being a vegetarian

Yabadee yabada, that's all folks!

Beautiful mushrooms and very nice pictures.  I especially like the Basil in the cleaning picture.

Kinda makes me sad though.  I have found one single B. edulis in 23 years of hunting.  It was in California and I was such a n00b I put it in a plastic bag for the ride home.  By the time I got home it was a gooey mess.

The state I currently live in at the 41 parallel has had about a half a dozen finds.

Oh well.

I hope you enjoyed yours!

Thanks for the reply. The basil is a good thing indeed, I've got lots of it on my balcony as well. Sad to hear you don't seem to get many of them where you live. We still get good fruitings every year nowadays, although finds are mostly limited to a few well-fruiting patches.

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?
