I have a 4 tier greenhouse.. This is my first grow I have 12 1 pint brf cakes and 6 quart brf cakes about to go in the greenhouse in about a week.. I was wondering if I could just use natural sunlight that shines through the window?? Wasn't sure if I needed to add artificial light..

you could, if you can set it somewhere where there is enough light, like next to a window where people can see it. but a small fluorescent and a timer doesn't cost much, and is very reliable.

uumm, i dont know about the lumens, not much though. nothing even close to what you need to grow weed. i use a 15 watt(i think) from wal-mart. it works for me.

Do you use like a standard bulb like that goes in a lamp one of the compact fluorescent or do you use the like 2 foot long ones..

Any fluorescent will work fine, but those in the high frequency range of 5,000 Kelvin to 6,500 Kelvin work better. Natural sunlight is also great. For a small terrarium, the 15 watt CFLs are perfect. For a greenhouse, fixtures with 48" tubes will cover more area.
However, greenhouses tend to work poorly for cakes because it's hard to maintain 99% humidity. I'd suggest a terrarium setup with perlite humidification. RR

Thx for the advice RR.. I am doing cakes for the first like two grows.. Then I am gona do WBS with 50/50 casing then maybe after that try spawning to straw...
As far as humidity for my greenhouse I purchased a cool mist humidifier.. The greenhouse is only 4 tier stands about 6 foot tall and is 27 inches by 21 inches.. you don't think I can get 90+ humidity with the coolmist ??

Sure. However, cakes want 99%/100% humidity and you can't get that in a greenhouse without making a flood. I'd recommend the shotgun terrarium for your cakes. There's also a few paragraphs about lighting on that page. Good luck. RR
