Just finished my first inoculation

Ran into some. . . issues. The gloves I was wearing didnt fit well (no gloves fit my hands, I have large palms and short, stubby fingers), and I wasnt able to control the syringe enough so I ditched them. Coated my hands in bleach water. probably terrible for my skin, but oh well.
Other problem was that my glovebox (clear tote with two holes in the side) made it hard to see the little gauge on the syringe. Ended up doing what I could and going by feel. Some jars and holes got a little more, some a little less. Also, the verm kept stopping up my syringe. I guess I need to order it and get some coarser in the future.
Small closet sprayed down with bleach, glovebox sprayed with bleach, flamed my needle and wiped it with alcohol inbetween jars. Nocd up 4 half pints with Blue Oyster, 6 with B+, and 2 with Huatla (which I recieve free from Spore Works because they ran out of B+, great folks over there).
So, please, wish me a contam free grow!

Next time Id use some soap to wash my hands. Soap can bond to water and oil at the same time and get out the layers of dirt and germs and dead skin.
Bleach is OK but does not get rid of those layers.
Good luck and don't worry if ya got a little too much in it

You're probably OK, but in the future use lysol or rubbing alcohol. Bleach kills most things, but some fungi and other baddies can survive. Lysol and rubbing alcohol will kill everything. Bleach is good for cleaning, but use lysol/alcohol for the sterile work.
There's nothing magic about 1/4cc per hole. More won't hurt as long as you don;t put in several cc's and flood it. Less might take a little longer for germinating spores to find good mates, but it will still probably work. There are 4 holes anyway - no action at one will just let the others take it over.

Don't wipe your syringe with a paper towel soaked in alcohol next time. Once you flame sterilize the needle it is STERILE. The first few drops will cool the needle and you will be fine. I only flame once per jar and do each of the four holes as quickly as possible. When you are just starting out you may want to flame for each hole. Alcohol is a SANITIZER not a STERILIZER so just stick with the flame. Another trick that Agar used to teach was take a piece of project foam and soak it in liquid Lysol. Squeeze out the excess and poke your flame sterilized needle into it. Then you have an injection condom. When you inject the foam will compress and if you pull out slowly it will expand to keep your needle completely covered at all times. No more flame sterilizing every time. That's what I did when I used to inoculate with syringes.
Also as far as the quarter of a cc per injection point that isn't to critical. I just do a small drop. Once you see a small drop come out and run down the glass move on. Too much moisture invites problems.
Paul Stamets, the writer of home cultivation grow bibles (imho), does not wear gloves. He doesn't like the way they feel. He just wipes his hands down with sanitizer ever few minutes.
So all in all you should be fine. You might get some contaminates you might not. If half of your stuff survives then call it a win for your first go round. Once you get to under a 10 percent contamination rate you've made it.
Good luck and happy growing.

I washed my hands and used some alcohol too, but I spritzed with bleach occasionally as well. I avoided lysol because I was using flame and didn't want to explode. The advice about wiping off the needle is appreciated. I was mainly doing it because I didn't want to have a too hot needle and kill the spores. Not sure if that's a real concern or not.
