Two inch holes? That seems a little large, why not go with a bunch of smaller holes?
I'm not familiar with poly fill, but I think I've read something on that being a risk for contamination, or possibly something else. Might wanna search on that.
Perlite is messy, but it works wonders. If you use smaller holes in the bottom and sides, and more of them, little will spill under the chamber. It just works so great.
Good luck!

if there is always a air feed coming in then the pressure would push all the internal air out. so contaminants in the polyfill would be push outward. anyway couldn't there also be contaminants in the perlite that lay at the bottom of a tub? i would think that is a equal risk factor that kind of doesn't matter if you have a well established mycelium culture. humidity and fae is a factor that does matter. i am not sure that my two inch holes are allowing adequate ventilation. i sure hope so.

polyfill is a good filter to PREVENT contamination. whatever you read was wrong.

Well, I didn't read anything on polyfill being a risk for contamination. So I didn't read anything wrong, my memory's just shot.
But there are a few posts speaking of polyfill blocking CO2 escape, or FAE in general. If the OP is doing cakes, it's probably not necessary. Simple holes seem to work fine for most. But if the holes are already drilled so large, it may not be a great idea to remove it. I don't know. I'm not too familiar with polyfill.
But it's not necessary. May just be extra work and investment, as Power so poetically put it.

yeah its just a prevention. the reason i made them bigger rather then a bunch of small ones is so i could filter them some way. my house isn't the cleanest. is six 2 inch holes enough to allow exchange? i inlet of air is alot smaller so thats what i was thinking.
