im pretty sure that spores will colonize poo eventually. its a bad idea and theres a million better ways to do it..but it would work in some semblance. i dont think they have to go through an animals digestive tract for them to colonize a substrate.
am i wrong?

themange, no they do not have to go through the digestive tract. It is simply that when a cow eat spores in the grass he's grazing on they can survive. The spores survive because the cows chew the cud, and have 6 stomachs, therefore no digestive acids that would normally kill the spores. This is the reason you look for wild shrooms in cow pastures, not horse.

Cows only have 1 stomach and in that stomach are 4 compartments.

I've thought it was 6, my bad. I've thought that for over 30yrs. Thinks for the correction.

From the way I understand it...h/poo makes great nutrient base for shrooms after it has been leached. While c/poo may have shrooms growing out of a unleached patty. But, typically horse fields that have shrooms are also used by cows.

anything that shits and pisses at the same time needs to have its poo leeched before you can use it indoors.
outdoors, mothernature does all the work.
spores can colonize poo of many different species.
rabbits, chickens, horses, cows, elephants, donkeys..etc.

yea they had a cow,a little baby cow and a ton of horses. but the cows and horses were in dif fences. i thought the shrooms were gana be in the cow shit cause iv always herd that shrooms dont grow in horse poo, but to my suprise we found none in the cow part and all in the horse part of the field. that was the only time ive ever found shrooms in horse poo though. i take that back i found shrooms in hpoo 2 times dif fields even.
