Well, I'm perfectly calm, I guess that post left me with a kind of bemused smile. Note to moderators - include bemused smiley icon. It is not my intention to bring conflict to what is a very relaxed and friendly forum. But i do feel that i need to 'clarify' some points. So i will say this and nothing more...

Quote:

if you were so pissed about the shrooms, you shoulda gone and had a chat to them and offer some advice if it was advice you had. Not sorta hid like a stalker! and staked its prey, then reported its doings to the fricking internet. Wise up!

First off - I never said I was pissed. I did say that they appeared to be cleaning up and i hoped they left some standing, there were a LOT. Maybe they did. As for the stlaker & Prey thing - (enter bemused smiley icon)

Quote:

and its a public forum and your saying that "3 guys, driving a specific car and colour were picking shrooms"

Really, how specific is '3 guys in a white van'? From the hostility in your post anyone would think i quoted the make, model and rego number of the vehicle and provided an artists rendition of the 3 guys.

Quote:

not too many vans in forestry SA if you notice

Well, no, to be honest i hadn't. Do you have some sort of documented statistics re: the number of white vans entering SA forestry lands?

Would i be happy to name my mode of transport? yeah, I drive an orange 4 wheel drive (not nearly as common as white vans).

Quote:

the patch may well be some patch that was handed down from grandfather to dad to son or some shit, and the dudes dont even give two shits about the "internet" and you could be taking the fruits of some 1970 hippies spore prints.....you never know eh.

Maybe we have inherited the fruits of some 70's hippies spore prints, but being as i am consciencious and respectful to the environment - I'm sure I would have their blessing. Anyway, is it not illogical to suggest that anyone has any sort of moral authority over our access to patches - anymore than i have over generations to come. They are their for us all to enjoy right?

Anyhoo, you are perfectly entitled to your opinion and i won't criticise you for it or call your musings 'insane' or tell you to 'shut up' And if my 'guys in white vans' comment made anyone uncomfortable - then i apologise. But don't put words in my mouth and don't misrepresent what i have said.

And no i have no hard feelings - lifes too short. And I am always trying to 'wise up' as you put it. It's one of my most passionate persuits. Hence my interest in Psycadelics.

Wee wander around the gums today. Not a lot around. Covered a fair bit of ground for this collection. Still a nice way to spend the afternoon.

Had an unpleasant end to the hunt. Hit a young roo in the rear on the way out of the forest. Reversed to find him/her sprawled and dying on the side of the road (not the first time this has happened).

Nothing around to bash its head with, so I had to stomp its noggin a few times with my size 10 Visions. Very unpleasant, but i had to put it out of its misery. Poor bugger...

Oh well, heres a couple of piccies.

and the afternoons gatherings.

If someone would care to explain how to post photos as linked thumbnails - that would be appreciated.

Also a general question I was curious about: Is blending dried shrooms into powder (electric food blender) likely to reduce their potency? What about fresh shrooms to make a shroom smoothie?

Just wondering if anyone here frequents my favourite patch. There's a dead goat there that died during the last season and has now been reduced to a skeleton. The goat rests on the left hand side of a valley. if you head directly up the valley you come to a small patch of pine forest. Subs grow mostly on the left hand side towards the top and only occasionaly on the right. Does this sound familiar to anyone? if so, stop picking all my bloody mushrooms

Quick question:

What with the soaking we've just had I was wondering...

how long after a good rain/cold session can one expect to see new mature flushes - a few days, a week?

Probably only have time for one last hunt this season, so I want to make it a good one.

Cheers.

Quick look-see today.

Some curious colours.

Also came across a sub with PURE white gills. Well it sure looked like a sub and it had very obvious blue bruising on cap and stem.

cuntspud, they look like galerina or strophs, definitely not subs though.

para noia, i think that subs with white gills are sterile, or something, maybe really young immature ones that have only just opened up and havent quite spored yet?  not sure on that last bit though. most likely sterile.

Interesting. Well  I wasn't able to get the one i found to drop a spore print after trying for several hours. But i'm sure it was a sub. So i guess your explanation makes sense.

Went for a hunt in the gums Friday morning (sorry - no pics). Last one for the season as i leave Thursday next week. Got around 50 fresh subs - I guess fruits from the recent rains. One of my favourite patches was actually flooded.

2SWZZL, I also checked out our (and others) bountiful Southern Pines patch. Sadly it had been totally pillaged. All i found were a few lonely pins - would be interested to see if it rejuvinates before the season end.

Would also be interested to see/hear how others went after the rains? Posts seems to have dropped off lately.

See everyone next season. Hopefully will be able to catch up with more of you if your still around. Good hunting.

Went waaaay down south to some pine forests, wandered around for about 2 hours and managed to find TONS! I'd say 2-300 of them. Trying them tonight to see if they're active. Spore print checks out though, and they sure do look like the subs everyone's posting. Habitat's right, size and spore is right... I think we're in for some fun times.

Nollykin, do not eat them to see if or not they are active, that can be very dangerous if you dont know what your doing, even fatal.
What did they look like? Spore print colour? Bruising?
Post some pics if you can please
