Thats what you are suppose to do.

I use my small bathroom. I spray the shit out of EVERYTHING, and go outside for 5-10 minutes...Then go in to inoculate.

If you have cats (birds and some reptiles) do not use lysol as it contains phenol which will eventually kill them overtime by liver/kidney damage.

RR once said the hype that Lysol caused mutations was crap. Bleach and 70% alcohol are good enough for me so I don't have any strong opinions one way or the other.

Bleach water is the only thing I would use since I learned the valuable lesson that Lysol or oust in a glovebox detonates like a stick of dynamite if you flick a lighter :hotidea:

Been there once myself! Never, never again...

Usually I create a spray bottle of 71% alcohol (full) and spray the insides very well. I let it sit and evaporate for a few minutes and do all the dipping/flame needle outside of the box.

Somewhat off topic, but in the general line of conversation: I don't have an alcohol lamp, so I'm planning to use a simple lighter to flame my needle. Would it be okay to wipe my (gloved) hands down with bleach instead of alcohol (as I have seen often recommended)? I'd rather not set my hands on fire.

The only problem it may cause you is if you spray the shit out of a sealed room, and expose yourself to it for any amount of time.

Work quickly, yet efficiently.

Otherwise you may end up with contams and one killer head buzz!

I use a candle just outside the box and it works if your patient just keep your alcohol solution away from your candle. Frankly I find it difficult to light a lighter while wearing gloves so this is one of my deterrents to using a lighter.

You can still use alcohol but just wait -30/40 seconds for it to fully evaporate.
