Getting the cake out of the jar
    #8671234 - 07/23/08 10:56 AM (16 years, 5 months ago)

So when I tried to get the cakes out of the jars recently, they just wouldnt come out.  Theyd come loose, but I had to push them out with a fork :frown:

So Im wondering, would it be workable to put say, a layer of saran wrap(or something heat-resistant) between the cake and the jar, to make popping them out easier?

Maybe it's the shape of the jar. Is it wide at the opening and narrower at the base? Cause that helps alot. :o)

^ Ya, needs to be a tapered shoulderless canning jar/drinking glass. It may have also been that when you initially mixed the sub that you packed it too tightly.

Yeah it's probably the jar shape. Cakes usually just take a brisk thump of the jar to a table or something then slide out. If your jars aren't shaped right then fork em out in chunks and crumble them in a bag, let it sit for a day then case it.

You gotta spank those jars like a cheap hooker, bud.

Thanks for the tips, I was in fact using wide-mouth masons, But between some of the pins being a bit extra large and my own problems spanking jars, it became troublesome

I like the idea of throwing all the bits in a bag for a day, I'll have to use that next time I destroy a cake.
