I'm having a hell of a time finding a blower with static pressure higher than 0
    #8668495 - 07/22/08 05:26 PM (16 years, 5 months ago)

http://www.4hydroponics.com/grow_room/aaexhst.asp

Checked the PDF instructions, can't find anything on static pressure.

http://www.google.com/products?q=static+pressure+blower&oe=utf-8&scoring=p&sa=N&start=70

Dayton blowers all with 0 Static Pressure

http://cgi.ebay.com/Fasco-8-Squirrel-Cage-Blower-Fan-3-Speed-Near-New_W0QQitemZ130186941766QQihZ003QQcategoryZ53297QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

again, no listing of static pressure

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/wwg/productIndex.shtml?L2=Squirrel+Cage&operator=prodIndexRefinementSearch&originalValue=Blower&L1=Blowers%2C

GGGGGGGGGGGGGG, all 0.000" static pressssssssssssure

I've been lookin all around the site, having trouble finding any other sites with small blowers. Any help would be great.

http://www.fungifun.org/English/Flowhood

click on the link in that page that says Match blower to filter.

It gives has a graph so you can figure out what size blower you need even if you do not know the static pressure of the blower your looking at. There is prob something here on Shroomery too but i just happen to remember that one off the top of my head

So even if it doesn't have a listed static pressure, and it delivers enough CFM the fan will work just the same? That puts a whole new light on things.

I've got that fungifun link already, I think I just get confused trying to understand the whole page at once.

That is what I gathered when I was looking into building my own.

It's also wrong.

You want a blower that will deliver the flow you need at .8 to 1" WC.  You need to go to www.grainger.com to find your blower.

RR to the rescue! Maybe it's the giant purple circles under my eyes, but its starting to make sense. heh.

http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/4C445
A 495CFM Blower with ( MF2412 24 x 12 x 5.8 inches @ 0.8Static Pressure)That HEPA will result in

CFM @ 0.800-In. SP  265

That little table solves everything, I can't believe I didn't notice it before.

SO- If I use a Furnace Prefilter with a Static Pressure of 0.2, This should drop the total CFM down from 265 to a workable level.

I stopped going to math class when I was 14, gimme a break haha.

OKAY I think I finally have it figured out. Thanks a bunch, if I screwed up my math please point it out.

my next question is, this thing should just plug into the fucking wall right?

ps- loved your video RR

EDIT:

Looking over it again:

CFM @ 0.600-In. SP  360
CFM @ 0.700-In. SP 312
CFM @ 0.800-In. SP 265

95CFM were lost between 0.6 SP and 0.8 SP, so the loss from 0.8 to 1.0 is probably pretty signifcant too. Most likely I'd end up with a pretty weak air flow from that blower. YARR more shopping.

I was hoping to save a little money but I think I'm just going to crack and buy

All-Purpose Blower
115V/60Hz, 549 CFM free air delivery, 360 CFM at .8" static pressure. Draws 1.43 amps. A superb, multipurpose fan excellent for use in greenhouses, growing rooms, and for pushing air through small dimension micron filters. (12 x 12 inch and 24 x 12 inch HEPAs). Because of the attached split capacitor, a better operating efficiency is achieved.
FAN667 $179.00

Aside from constructing my own fan i doubt i'd be able to find a better deal. I don't know the first thing about building a fan and I don't think theres room in my brain for it right now. Cest la vie.

WoW! You and I have the thought patterns of a Psychopath:lol: all thinking out loud and shit in an offstream manner...

You Have Created the Ultimate "DIY Flowhood" Thread here... you did all the Research, posted it all, Did the Math, Posted it all and even found and linked to the best place on the net to buy almost everything involved in building your own hood...

Now I ask? Did You Intentionally Do this or is it something that "Just Happened"?

Either way
