They don't look much like honey mushrooms but they must be Armillaria tabescens.

Interesting to see a mycorrhizal species like that growing directly from wood. Must be some tree roots growing through it.

Tempting to ask you to post some pics of your wife then Just kidding, photography is a cool thing, although I don't seem to get beyond the stage of trying to capture what I find, not a lot of really creative stuff going on here. Ah well, it's still really enjoyable and rewarding, as you're also finding out, it seems

I have several spots i go to everyday, they all are massive so i can never cover the same ground twice. But i have a few spots that are my "go to spots" they always have unique shrooms growing.

Alan you said the those looked like tabescens, but on mushrooms expert it says they are supposed to taste bitter. The ones i have do not they taste bitter there slightly sweet.

The Honeys are Armillaria tabescens. They are out now; I found two different fruitings in the past 3 days. They taste like dooky, imo. You can try using the caps in stir fry after boiling/sauteing them.
Beautiful photos, weiliiiii!
The Old Man, Strobilomyces floccopus, is not growing from the dead wood as much as it is mycorrhizal with some other tree. I have seen the same thing with the Sickly Candy Cap I ate.
What kind of log was the Old Man growing from?
