Some yummy edibles
    #863585 - 09/04/02 12:07 PM (21 years, 6 months ago)

These are Agaricus Campestris found at a local golf course. I learned about these from my Grandmother. Her and I used to pick these from the yard, fry them with onions and gorge ourselves. They are also called the common meadow mushroom or Champignon. The season runs from april to the end of may then again in late summer to early fall, depending on rainfall.

Yeah that looks to be a nice collection of the meadow mushroom.

i never have eaten this mushroom and have found millions of them.
-i have also found several similar mushroom species to this,
this is why, i do not take the chance nor take the time to
learn their differences.

and i dont just won't eat mushrooms that i am not 110% certain of the identity.

if i get hungry for mushrooms i go to the grocery store..

cool find though,

keep shroomin,

Great find.

Agaricus campestris is one of my favorite wild mushrooms to eat. Those look delicious.

After I cleaned them and checked for bugs(they had none) I took half of them and sliced them. I sat them aside then took onions and sauteed them with butter. After they cooked down for awhile till they got translucent then I threw the mushrooms in and only cooked for about another 5 mins or so stirring them frequently. Then on the side I took some cornstartch and water and mixed it well then tossed that in and made a mushroom and onion gravy. Salt and season to taste then poured that over top a juicy steak. Yum!
The others I preserved with olive oil and herbs in a canning jar for later use.

This I believe should be another heading for the forum.
