pop tarts burn the roof of my mouth.

and when I was a kid a pop tart got stuck in the toaster and set some of the kitchen cabinetry on fire.

other than that, they're purdy tasty.

I used to like the smore ones... not so much anymore. I guess when you're a kid massive amounts of sugar are acceptable... no wonder they put so many kids on ADD meds!

i wonder that about a lot of things i ate when i was a kid too... :nonono:

but, i have these organic toaster pastries and they are pretty delicious and made with honey rather than high fructose corn syrup.  i remember your "organic, who the fuck cares" post, so i don't know if you'd be in to that sort of thing... but i'd really recommend 'em.

for me this morning i had a turkey, ham, avacado, kale, sprouts, onion, and cheese sandwich with an apple and a cup of hot green tea with a generous dollop of weed infused honey in it to wash it all  down..

i'm going to eat a blood orange in a second..

on days like this when i don't have much going on i end up eating twice as much as i usually do it seems...  i just wander to the fridge and then back to the computer all day..
i should go for a bike ride or something.

But then I decided to see how bad they were for me... Each poptart has 38 grams of sugar in it. Jesus christ.

I have an exam I have to go take in a little bit and I'm probably gonna have a sugar crash in the middle of it. Damn you poptarts, damn you to hell!

(why'd my parents feed me these things when I was a kid?)

sugar high/crash is a myth

Quote:

In 1995 the Journal of the American Medical Association published a review of 23 comparatively rigorous studies conducted between 1982 and 1994. These were your classic controlled double-blind affairs: two groups of kids, one fed a bunch of sugar, the other given a placebo (i.e., artificial sweetener), everyone kept sufficiently in the dark as to who'd gotten what, etc.

The results? No discernible relationship between sugar ingested and how the kids acted. It didn't matter how old they were, how much sugar they got, what their diets were like otherwise — nothing. The JAMA authors stopped shy of drawing any definitive conclusions, but if there were a legitimate sugar-high effect out there, you'd like to see it turn up in the lab every so often.

Why did you reply to a year and a half old thread about poptarts?

"Each poptart has 38 grams of sugar in it".

That's fucking disgusting.

I knew stuff was loaded with sugar but I thought maybe a gram or two. Fucking hell.

I'm constantly surprised how one single tart has like 200 calories of saturated fat and refined sugar. And the serving size is usually a package of two. .

I find that if I straight out of bed eat some fruit (especially sour like an apple) I generally have a bowel movement within half an hour, if I eat anything else that won't happen.

I think we are meant to eat fruit at the start of the day biologically, wake up in your bed of leaves, shuffle around, pull a fruit from a tree and start munching.
