Do you use a mushroom brush to clean or just soley your fingernail? Do you think it is any better to clean them thouroughly while fresh, or just remove most of the soil then and finish scraping the dry dusty soil off after dried?
I always clean them fresh, i dont really care about a little dirt under my nails
The rain/cold has stunted much of the growth at my patches, they are all short and many were rotten and completely blue.
those pics are recent

I'm still new to the weilii but I don't think its quite done yet. I had a patch produce 35 healthy meaty fruits a few days ago so I'd guess with a bit of warm weather and maybe a bit more rain some more could pop up. I'm hearing its supposed to be cold for a while though

Hey WEiliiii, its just a thought, but I notice when I pinch them off at the bottom of the stem, there is way less cleaning time and handling when i arrive back at the homestead. I used to pick them like yours in the pics, but I found it easier to just pinch rather than pluck.Example. That is right after picking. no cleaning involved. no gritty shit.

I used to do that too, but read that when you do that it leaves the bottom part of the stipe there to rot which can spread to the mycelium which can fuck up your patch

Actually it doesn't rot, it turns back into vegetative mycelium that can fruit again.
Watch it sometime over a period of a couple weeks, its pretty cool.

I dont really believe that, i have observed otherwise which is why i dont do that anymore.
Another reason i dont do that is i dont like to leave the stumps there for others to find, im secretive;)

The fat lady isn't singing yet guys.
Picked these up today, wasn't even hunting just noticed them and scooped them up.
I've got all these weiliis now just sitting around and I don't even plan to trip for a few months. Talk about practicing self control.

Most of these pics are from my 10/23 haul, which weighed 217g wet. 5 days later, I picked the big haul (last pic) from the same patch. Last pic with the huge mound weighed out 540g wet, picked those day before yesterday. Great thing is, I left probably the same number in pins to grow for next time! Oh, sorry for the poor quality pics... just what I had at the time.
Get out there dudes!

You Could pluck them and then rip off the stumps for an easier clean, Maybe. But if the grit doesnt bother you or your teeth, then it doesnt matter, right?

Cherokee County in a huge bermuda field surrounded by loblollys. I've yet to encounter any success in the forests, and I've got the battle scars to show for my attempts This one field is just perfect for me, i can be 100 yards away from people and they may know I'm there, but can't see what I'm doing or anything. I know the entire neighborhood must be covered in Weilii, but I've yet to "take my dog out for a walk" there yet.

I cut the stem butt off and then use it to make new patches, heres what they look like after being cleaned.

Found a new patch today in Smyrna in a common area of some older apartments. Most were pretty old or aborts, but a few were worth harvesting.
