I always clean them fresh, i dont really care about a little dirt under my nails

The rain/cold has stunted much of the growth at my patches, they are all short and many were rotten and completely blue.

I used to do that too, but read that when you do that it leaves the bottom part of the stipe there to rot which can spread to the mycelium which can fuck up your patch

Actually it doesn't rot, it turns back into vegetative mycelium that can fruit again.

Watch it sometime over a period of a couple weeks, its pretty cool.

I cut the stem butt off and then use it to make new patches, heres what they look like after being cleaned.
