Liberty cap looking weilii
The rain makes the caps turn blue, oh no oxidation
Hiding out
Notice the color of sum of the caps, how dark they are. They all were aborts or small in size, i think because of the cold rainy days we have been having.
A couple of strands of mycelium
i would love to see the whole myc network at once, i wonder how big it is for a single mushroom or a cluster.

hey there all, new poster here...
well, I have never posted before, but I have been reading this (and other) threads/sites about hunting shrooms in my area for the past few weeks.
I have read all about Weilii habitat and where to find them, when to look, that they look like, ect ect.
Well, it took a long time, and it was easy to get discouraged from looking every day and finding nothing for the past few weeks. However, because of the rain we had yesterday I decided to give it another shot, and I think I actually found some!
Now, I know that ID requests are supposed to be done a certian way... But I figured since I was hunting for Weilii... and since I think what I found was Weilii... that I would post it here for all you Weilii experts to examine =)
------------------------------------------------------
OK, so some background info.
It had just rained yesterday. I found these in a neighborhood that is not more than 3 years old at the most. They were in rich deep green fescue grass that looked like it hasnt been mowed in 2 weeks, but the grass was VERY healthy. Most of the shrooms were in the grass near the edge of the yard near some shrubs/ferns, but there were also shrooms out further in the middle of the grass.
All the shrooms I could grab in 30 seconds:
The biggest one:
Pulled up a big clump on accident, hope the mycelium is OK:
One of them:
A second one:
The gills of the second one:
Are these Weilii? I am taking a spore print right now, will let you guys know how it turns out in a bit... I noticed some bluing on the stems, but it wasnt as pronounced as I thought it would be from the pictures I have seen... I heard that the Weilii should blue in 1-5 minutes, sometimes 10... And a few of them did, but most are just now starting to bruise blue after about an hour.
Also, it seems the shrooms with the darker caps have more bluing on the stem than the ones with lighter caps... Does this have any correlation with potency?
Also, the stems themselves are not hollow, the inside seems to be stringy with fibers.
-------------------------------------
These shrooms were also growing in the grass along with the above shrooms, but were not NEARLY as common... Anybody have any idea what they are? Just curious.
Type #1: Smooth cap (like the others I found). Tri-color (brown nipple, tan cap, dark around margin)... The part of the margin that has curled under the cap near the gills has turned black and hard... The gills are brown... Slight bluing... (Is this an older Weilii that was drying up?)
Type #2: Brown, fuzzy cap... brown gills (about the same color as cap) No bluing... Hollow stem.

In the picture where you said you pulled up a clump, youll be alright i dont see any mycelium attached to the base of that, i do this all the time and my patches have been doing fine year after year.
I just see a bunch of clay soil, no strands of myc, look at my post above i posted a pic of sum myc
there is a large mass underneath each shroom or cluster, so even if you do pull up a little thell be alright, heres a diagram to show this...

ahh cool, thanks for that
yeah, there isnt any mycelium on the clump so that is good...
but yeah, thanks for all your help weiliiiiiii... your previous posts in this thread about how to find them have been very helpful... To any new people looking around here trying to find info about finding Weilii, I know it can be confusing and a lot of work, but trust me, all the info you need to find these guys is on this thread, or at least on this site... And yes, I read all 39 pages of posts =p
Now... weiliiiiiii... can you tell me if what I have found are Weilii or not? (There is considerable bluing now on almost every shroom I found... It has been about 2 hours now.)
Also, the caps seem to be slightly changing color. At first they were mostly 100% solid brown, now between the nipple and the margin they are becomming lighter in color...
Here is a pic of the SAME CLUSTER that I was holding before... notice the color change on the two caps...
Is this normal?

the ones with the fuzzy caps are not weilii, weilii hunters call those ones lookalikes they grow in the same habitat as weilii and are good to look for when hunting weilii, wherever you find the lookalikes weilii usually grow
all the other ones are weilii, the way the cap is changing color is normal for psilocybes

Haha congrats on the find Greken. I'm still dry, went out to check my patches this afternoon but they were empty. I'm going to be getting back out there in the next few days to find some new spots hopefully.
Any predictions on how long the season might last this year?

Its the cold, every year i notice certain patches take longer to fruit after you have harvested the first flush, the cold slows everything down(myc/fruit bodies growth).
The rain and cold temps have stunted all the ones in one of my patches, there all small and have black caps, fuckin aborts.
Keep checking your patches though, there still going strong

I noticed that on that last rain..LOTS of aborts..especially in areas of shorter grass...but the deeper grass is where I found my bigger ones.
