recording quality.... post examples

post examples of what you think are the pinnacle of recording quality. be it a snare, horn, vocal... and try to explain why you think that it should take the prize as "best recorded ______".
live concert/pop snare: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNQrMLD2_rY you can tell a lot of time was spent on this, it is the loudest thing in the mix. first off it has extreme presence. secondly, you can perfectly hear the bottom and the top of the perfectly tuned snare... coupled together you can tell the subtle differences in the strokes which color each snap differently.
pop kick: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kySwhkpY4I like all pop, you can hear and feel the compression squashing it, but most kicks have too much 2-4k in it, buried in the mix with little presence and usually just high and low mid punch. this kick has a scalloped bottom (thats the only way i can describe it visually)... oh so smooth and rounded and using 6-8k for attack with the high mids rolled back. you can almost hear the gate slamming shut, but you can tell it is really tight.
i will add some more later.... if anyone actually responds. some say that i overanalyze music, but someone put effort into imaging this stuff... it is no different than recognizing how Focus Films always has stellar lighting.

hey man, i'm listening to the 2nd one. you're not the only one who analyzes little things in music. lol. when i listen to the radio, i sometimes pay attention to just the snare. i forgot what i was listening to the other day but i was really amazed by the high hats. i am still working on quality in my mixes. my last track i've been told it sounds cleaner. which i'm happy. but i just bought my first sample cd. i didn't think sample cds really mattered. i used to download my samples online. no longer will i do that. I just bought a couple of books explaining how mixes work and everything and effects. i feel like i should read them as i'm producing. and not on say the train because i won't get much out of it that way.

8K for the attack of a kick...?! Shite.
A Perfect Circle's album Mer de Noms impressed me. The entire mixes. The vocals. The guitar tones. Everything... Youtube videos are hardly worth critiquing for audio quality though, imo.

The Dark Side of The Moon vinyl version is a good example of excellent recording, I think (But obviously I can't post this, heh) It has to be experienced, and if you have you probably know what I'm talking about. Once you hear it you realize that's the way it was truly meant to be heard, experienced, and felt. Yes, felt....that's the vinyl listening experience =D
People are amazed by it if they've only heard the CD or MP3 versions, which compared to the original recording (which was tampered with for later/modern releases if I recall correctly) are noticeably different and drastically lacking the same quality.
The vinyl release blowing away CD releases & digital music is fairly common, but this particularly struck me as worthy to be mentioned if I had to name one. (and one that's a pinnacle of sound quality).

I've always loved the way the cymbals sound in the last stretch of Angel by Massive Attack. The first time I heard that song on a pair of decent studio headphones I almost creamed myself. I don't know how they got them to sound like that, but they shimmer to the point where I can almost see them. I'm not sure the quality of the youtube video really does the album version justice, but here it is anyway..

true, but you can still get the gist of how present it is in the mix and its eq. all that lossy compression gets in the way.

Listen to the second vocals, the male voice, not Grace Slick's one
The harmony is perfect I love this song
