The 1337 way to link to a Google search

I noticed that you can create a simplified version of a Google search link:
http://www.google.com/search?q=maoi+site%3Aayahuasca.com&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a
–
http://www.google.com/search?q=maoi+site%3Aayahuasca.com
When people do this, do they always do it manually? Does Google provide you with this simplified version for linking?

maybe its simpler if you're using google.com as opposed to the firefox start page
searching for "drugs" from the regular google gave me this:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=drugs&btnG=Search

I wasn't using the Firefox start page. Also notice that even your URL is more complicated than my simplified one as it has the language: en.
Look, Opera generates just as complicated a URL as the one I obtained from Firefox:
http://www.google.com/search?num=100&hl=en&safe=off&client=opera&rls=en&hs=KLt&q=maoi+site%3Aayahuasca.com&btnG=Search

That's not your URL and you don't own it. What you found out is a basic concept of how the google web application, and most any HTTP web application, for that matter, works. I've been manually typing queries like that for google, dictionary.com, and other sites since, oh I don't know, 1996...

Generally I would paste the link, think damn that looks a bit too long, and delete the obviously unnecessary bits myself.

That's sort of the point, poppet. It is faster to type "http://www.google.com/search?q=lol+dongs" into the address bar (assuming you type respectably well or better) than to go to google, enter your search term, and wait for the page to load. Considering most browsers will "fix" missing pieces for you, you can even just type "google.com/search?q=unk+nown", which if you type fast enough is less than a second of extra time spent from using the search bar in your browser AND doesn't give them monies.
So to answer your question, people who type fast enough to not want to waste their time with pages loading would type out queries.

You must be on 56k cause a Google search page loads in a split second for me.

for the record, i love the google search bar in firefox, but it's usualy occupied by either the Wowhead or thottbot plugin.
It'd be a waste of time to use the pull down menu each time to switch between the 2, considering I use each so much. So having google as a home page gives me my 2 most used search engines in 'one shot'. Also it's super light weight, so it loads instantly.

Sure... if you enjoy spyware!
I am generally on attenuated wireless connections that are being raped of bandwidth, so yes, a page not loading is certainly less of a strain. I go to google.com to see if I am online usually (once, it was actually down while I was up).
Fred, I hope you're kidding.

I like google toolbar, especially the convenience of clicking on the searched words and being taken to them in the document. For long documents, such as huge pdf's converted to html or research papers, whatever, it is really nice and efficient.
What spyware are you talking about?
The page rank?
Isn't that an option you can turn off? What else are your referring too?
