There is definitely mycelium present, but it seems very wet. Maybe just too much water added before sterilization, but it could also be a bacterial contamination. Just be sure to watch it closely for changes in color and/or morphology. (Pay special attention to odor- if it turns sour, throw it out- and NEVER open it to smell it.)

Yea I meant to throw that in there. It could be the pictures, but it looks like you might have some wetspots forming.

It's not terribly unusual to have some wet spots- don't freak out about it. Just be sure to watch it closely. After a few grows, you'll know the difference between over-saturation, mycelial excretion and bacterial contamiation just by looking (most of the time). There's no guarantee though. So be sure to watch and smell. If it develops into greasy looking patches and/or smells badly, it's contaminates.

If they turn sour on you then no its not ok. The mycelium will quit spreading. You'll know in time. If nothing grows there then...Its contaminated. Also, you'll be able to tell here in the next few days what its going to do. Like said above it will turn greasy almost.

Oh and wetspots won't form so much between the mycelium and glass. More in places where you don't have any mycelium...Between the substrate and the glass.

Mine show up around the 2 week mark. I haven't had them since my first few grows, but about 2 weeks mine seem to show up.

GET THE FOIL OFF! didn't mean to yell, but the PF tek is VERY detailed.
Yup, mycellium!

Not the PF Tek.
Don't take it off unless you have a barrier as you would with the PF Tek. It uses a dry layer of vermiculite on the top. With grain jars either use the medical porous tape, polyfill, or tyvek. If you don't have any of it leave the foil on.

right on. Sorry for jumping on the post with out thinking, alcohol does that to me for some odd reason. It's just that the foil alarmed me, assuming PF tek.
nOOb here on my 1st and 2nd grows and I think I know it all.
forgive me, and thanks for not body slamming me!

LOL. No foul man. We learn from each other. I did exactly what you are doing. I got active, stated my opinion, got corrected 1000 times, and now I know A LITTLE BIT. Keep it up...Now you won't do it again. You just learned something...Something that you probably already knew, but you will be sure to look closer to the pictures now. Its all good.
Have fun getting drunk. Wish I was doing the same.
Oh and you get +5 for your first grow log. Nicely documented, and those big bags of perlite and vermiculite...I want some.

No that's okay they might even piss a little after they been colonizing for some time.If there starts to be some yellowish looking spots, very very small ones, right on top of the mic don't worry its prolly just myc piss. Post a picture though.

It is fine. You are going to see a few drops between the glass, and mycelium growth. Also, its metabolites that is yellow. I was corrected on this so I'm just letting you know before someone goes ape shit on you.
Another thing is...Well Roger Rabbit said it, is that healthy cakes usually don't produce "yellow metabolites". I never realized it until I watch over the next 2 grows afterwards, and I'll be damn if he wasn't right.
Anyway, buy his videos. I know I say it too much, and no I don't get paid to sell them...I just think you will be better off doing so.

Yeah, my jars had 10-15% growth on the third day after inoculation. Now, 9 days later more then half of them are 70%+, another 5 are at 55-60% and the last at a whopping 30%.....(only had enough left in the syringe for 2 inoculation points on the last jar....and they were not placed opposite of each other )
Those look almost exactly like mine did.
Wish you the best of luck on this endeavor.

Its just a contamination. You can check the contamination forum, and post those pictures. I don't think there is a name for it. I think people call it lipstick contam or something.
