Do these look alright? came out kinda blurry but any advice helps....
(The one that looks like shit on the side is just the space where mycelium was rubbed off while taking it out of the jar...)

Look good. Nice work. Glad to see you read, and did your homework before coming and playing 1000 questions. Nice work.

it took quite a while because i had them in my closet and the temperature was in the 70s because of the A/C. i'd say almost 8 weeks. i had three other pint jars with 'creepers' in them but red mold took hold of those....

About 1 week give or take a day or two. Pick them right as the veil under the cap is tearing away from the stem.

What's to ask! You did a fantastic job for your first time. I'm sure there are a lot of first timers that only wished their cakes looked like that. Keep doing what your doing and in about a week you should have a porcupine looking cake there buddy. 5 shrooms for you.

No I did not. I'm unfamiliar with that method...

After your first flush take them out, put them in a ziplock bag, fill with water, and let soak for 6-24 hours. No more than 24, and preferably somewhere between 12-18. Then take them out after that time period, and roll in dry vermiculite. Place them back in your FC, and watch them explode like no tomorrow.

Tupperware containers also work for the dunk. The basic premise is to keep the cakes submerged in water for a 24-48h period. Then you roll the cakes in dry vermiculite and put them in the FC, about an hour after this you can mist the cakes so that the verm sticking to them is wet but sometimes (particularly in later flushes) I skip this misting step and just let the verm absorb humidity instead. Probably doesn't lead to significant water loss, but on cakes every little bit counts.

I'd say that you are doing a good job, but the only way to tell for sure is to try and grow some from a spore print of yours...
