The taste of Marasmius oreades

Are they worth collecting? There are tons in lawns around my area, and I was thinking next time I walk somewhere I should bring a basket.
I was just wondering how other people liked the taste of them. I wanted to get a general consensus of this little brown mushroom.
So, how do you like them? And does anyone have any cooking tips or anything special I should do to prepare them?

They are great, a lot of work to collect, but still worth it. They dry easily. I fry them and eat them.
They can be used in cookies. Fry them first, cool and then add them to the dough before you bake.

Tehalose, the sugar, that helps them to revive when they are dried also gives them a sweet taste.

I haven't tried them yet. I very much intended on doing so because they are so amazingly plentiful in this area- until this year. I've only found THREE all year. Makes me mad. I've found them by the hundreds every year before this one. I'm about to try cultivating them from a print (from years past) just to taste them.

I have a great picture of a necrotic zone I have been meaning to take. If I take it tomorrow, I'll put it in this thread.
Like Falcon says, they are great in cookies. My girlfriend uses them as a substitute in Chocolate Chip cookies because we think they taste like Walnuts. Just dry them and put them in the dough and bake.

I would use them anywhere I would normally use Walnuts. You could make a Waldorf Salad with Apples and Fairy Ring mushrooms or mix them in ice cream. I would definitely recommend picking them and eating them.
Nummo!

Have you tried them raw? Do you collect the stems or only caps (as the stems are rather tough)?

I snip them off right above the ground with scissors and I never eat any mushroom raw.
