Updated with PICS! Anybody eat these before?
    #863132 - 09/04/02 09:26 AM (14 years, 3 months ago)

These are wood decomposers found in central WI. I'm leaning towards crested or white coral which are both edible, and for the others I have been told they are possibly chanterelles or angels wings which are also edible, however I won't try them until I can get a possitive Id either here or maybe the local college has an expert I could ask.
Shit I was trying to upload some pics but they are in the wrong format (bitmap) is their any way to convert them so I can post them. I was thinking of using my camera Sony TRV 140 to do a time lapse movie of my next casing of EQ's so I hope it's possible.

Open the image in paint. Click File >  Save As, then scroll down to JPEG on 'Save as type' menu and then click save

Well thanks for pointing me in the right direction Anno I should have noticed the link to that program myself but I missed it. Anyway if it worked it was really helpful. Hopefully somebody will recognize these now that I have a few pics up. Sorry they aren?t the best qaulity but they were just captured from 8mm video.

Clavicorona pyxidata resembles the coral mushrooms you have. They should be pale yellow, have a tiny, crownlike tip to each branch, and grow on wood. If that's what they are and you decide to eat them, be careful - when you fry them they will sometimes jump out of the pan (yes, really). If they don't match the characters above, then they are another species, and the Ramarias and Clavarias require a microscope and lots of time to identify accurately.

The other mushrooms look like they could be Pleurotus, but there are a number of mushrooms that look like that. I just can't see enough detail in the photo to be sure of what they are accurately.

Happy mushrooming!
