im new here and im pretty sure this has been posted so many times before but i want to know what other people think about legalizing of shrooms.
I live in Victoria BC, its in canada. Where i live is one of the best places in the world for drugs. The Bud is GREEEEAATTT, The mushrooms are Potent (im sure you have heard of BC bud) and the people here are just as great. Best of all, the government is thinking about exclusively legalizing Pot and Shrooms. I think this is a great idea, but what do you think is gona happen when the businesses catch on and start making marajuanna cigarettes (with tobacco) and adding a bunch of shit to them for the soul purpose of making the addictive. And adding things to shrooms as well.
Where as Alcahol and Tobacco do absolutely NOTHING for you (accept get you addicted) Shrooms make you explore you mind, and people like that. They arent really THAT bad for you. So if anything i think mushrooms should be legalized before tobacco and alcahol. Go Figure.
Shrooms are like "I LOVE EVERYTHING" (to me) where as alcahol is like "HEY GUYS! LETS GO BASH STUFF".
Everyone listen to Bill Hicks - shrooms. ITS SO FUNNY and its exactly what i think. DO IT! and i want some feed back here. i know you have probably answered the questions many many times, but....

The US tied every country up with UN resolutions which is why the most countries do is "decriminalise" drugs. A recent British think tank has suggested a way a country could withdraw from the UN resolutions and decide it's own policy. There's no doubt the US will place enormous pressure on any country that tries to do this.

I personnally want things to stay as they are now.
I don't mind having to grow/buy illegal substances. It's all about knowledge of what you are doing. If one is stupid enough to buy laced shrooms/weed, it's their problem, not mine.
What would be the price to pay for legalization?
My guess is that drugs would become VERY expensive, and they'd have all sorts of taxes on them, so that the government could make some profit. Sure, the substances would be controlled; but who needs controlled substances at an incredibly high price when one can grow those substances in the comfort of their own homes?

The UN got very pissed when they decriminalised all drugs for consumers in Portugal, they surely apply many pressure to any country wich tries to do it... and Nixon is the biggest ass.

If you can grow it, then why buy it ? Even the state has to follow the market rules. MAIA

Personally, I think any and all countries considering decriminalization or legalization of drugs should say FUCK the US, FUCK their War On Drugs. The US has absolutely no business deciding for other countries what their drug policies are. Oh yeah, FUCK the UN regulations too. This is just another pathetic, childish display of America's incredible arrogance. If every country considering this just went ahead and did it, the US would have no choice but to give in. The US government could make all the threats they want. In the end, they're only going to hurt themselves. The US needs the rest of the world more than they need the US. There is simply no good, solid, objective reason NOT too legalize pot and shrooms.

Ah, good! A Canadian! I've been reading lately that your gov't is reconsidering its relatively loose policies on marijuana these days. I can only assume that the US is playing a significant role in this. Any idea what exactly the US has been threatening you guys with?

I think they are a risk to society. When you relize that you are an eternal being, with infinate love from god, and you are being screwed everyday, its bad for the economy (yes bill hicks said this, and no not word for word, im too lazy to copy :P)
I also think drugs are not for everyone, but I do think they should not be looked down upon like htey are. People shun them, they are a representation of evil when they are nothing but the complete opposite. Drugs can form habbits, and ruin peoples lives. They can completely change your outlook on the world. People take drugs at thier own risk, and dont need to sign a waiver before hand. This may be a reason why. I dont think all drugs should necesarily be publically made available, or for that matter decriminalized for distribution, those are both big subjects...
I do however think they shouldnt be criminalized for personal consumption, and even if they are, the DEA needs to do some major reconstruction of thier priority list.

The DEA threatened economic sanctions if Canada continues on with its "radial drug policies". Ugh...man, that just makes me sick. What a blatantly stupid and arrogant thing for the U.S. to say. There's no words to describe how utterly angry a statement such as this makes me. Hmmph...this probably belongs in Politics now...oh well.
