Try burning the cd onto a seperate disc and see if your comp reads the burnt copy if at all possible

I would say that its got that software on it that stops a computer from reading it, but if its a local band then i doubt it, but its possible. Is it from a few years ago? I know at least in the US labels stopped doing it, apparently they also contained a virus or something, I don't really know.

no doubt their email is somewhere on the cd or packaging.
email them and tell them what happened, tell them you'll gladly give them the cd back, you just want the files.

Sounds like your CD drive is faulty. Last two CD drives I have bought have done similar things. After awhile they wouldn't burn anything on certain brands of CDs.
See if you can play other CDs on your computer. If you can, chances are the problem is like what I have and a new CD Drive would fix it. Or you could take it to a friends and burn it on a new CD/put it on your iPod thurrrrr.
