Adding perlite to casing layer?

Is it possible to keep it humid enough in a box by mixing say 1:3 part of perlite with the casing layer, anybody tried that?
Would it work?

Got a big 3-liter Jar filled with horse poo almost fully colonized ready to be cased...

Its not a good idea. It wouldnt help keep the humidity up, it would just drown the mycelia. Go with a normal casing layer.

Perlite holds too much water, just use it on the bottom of your terrarium!
