After the 1st flush I dunked it with running water for an hour then recased with jiffy mix just a little on the top and edges where it shrank from the sides of the tub. I didn't dunk the casing.. just the substrate. The casing was all washed away by the dunking so I recased. This is the first time I've tried this so I have no idea what I'm doing really.. just going on the advice I've read through the forums. Basically I did it because I wasn't seeing any new pins or growth so I thought it might be too dry. The uncased tray I had of amazons did a fairly small 2nd flush with large fruits. I wasn't very impressed with that one either. I just don't think coir presents enough nutrients for the mushies to get good follow up flushes. Next round if I can't get ahold of some hpoo and straw to use I'm adding gypsum and spent coffee grounds so hopefully that will help.

Do you think I should just flip the tub and leave the sub sitting on the lid so I have 5 sides of sub exposed for fruiting? Maybe I could force a better pinset that way and avoid dealing with the casing?

Dehydrated isn't nearly as important as COMPOSTED. If it's not composted, it will have too much urea for mushroom growing.

very untrue.. I, and alot of others, get HUGE flushes from straight coir.. I get at least 3 nice, solid flushes.. it may have been the spores that germinated.. It could very well be a genetic trait for that substrain, that makes it flush for shit..
try another syringe or just use the same to noc up some more jars.. I mean, if you dunk it, it will flush.. if its not, then something is awry..
how long are you waiting after you re-case it to put it back in fruiting conditions? are you just putting the casing on and starting fae and light again? if you are, thats your problem..

What should I do after I recase post-dunk? re-incubate? I had advice not to re-incubate after dunking just to case it and put it back in the FC. Obviously that's not working really well.. at least not this batch.

I have received very nice 2nd 3rd and 4th flushes by lightly scraping the casing layer off with the serrated edge of a steak knife and dunking my casing for a few hours..Then applying a small amount of verm and placing the sub back in my fc...

Here's the results from the dunked tub of PESA. Nothing major as far as numbers (only 3 big and 1 small) but the size was great.

I use no coffee anymore.
And now i use 2 quarts to 1 brick which make 2 tubs. it's stretching it...I know, but my TC's are agressive and I seem to get more fruits than 3quarts per brick.

If you were doing a tub that was 14x18 and 5 inches and depending on what your spawn ratio is.
Ratio
1:1 You would need 11 quarts of substrate 1:2 You would need 16 quarts of substrate 1:3 You would need 18 quarts of substrate 1:4 You would need 20 quarts of substrate
Coir brick is about 8-9 quarts sooo..

Thats roughly one quart maybe 2 at the most that is not enough to spawn to coir in that big of a tray or tub

You can spawn it just as it is if you wanted too, it's called invitro. I would learn to do grains or cakes if I was you.. Go down to my signature and click the link that says USEFUL LINKS FOR ANYONE AND EVERYONE.. and do some research.
