I was looking through the list of contestants...and then i saw a name
"Richard Blais"
It sounded very familiar, and then when i saw him on the show,
Turns out he's one of the previous challengers on iron chef america, went up against Batali and lost.
His food was incredible. I do believe he is the "Hung" of this season and will most likely win the competition.

Jesus, Hells Kitchen boasts just an absolutely terrible roundup of competitors. Don't get me wrong, I think everyone should feel comfortable cooking, but to put people with so little experience and have such a supreme jackass of a commentator demean and insult them at every turn on national television... it's just a piece of shit show in my opinion.
On the other hand, Top Chef has been bringin' in excellent talent and I love it! I've seen the first three episodes so far, the fourth is out but haven't caught it yet. For anyone interested, you can find all the episodes here: http://btjunkie.org/search?q=top+chef
From the first three episodes, Stephanie is putting in a great showing and won two elimination challenges already. However, it seems that sometimes her own proficiency catches her off guard and it will be interesting to see how this lack of confidence will play into her performance down the line. Andrew is a total spaz. And I'm totally jealous of Spike's veritable collection of hats. Richard's jicama tacos were pretty cool. At this point though, I think Dale (who has been rather quiet), will be a strong contender.

HK is good for a laugh. my problem is that its way too uneven - you got sous chefs and exec chefs pitted up against people who have zero restaurant experience. cooking at home is a lot different than doing it on the line and not everyone can deal with the pressure. i can tell you that while ramsey is a pompous asshole, he's certainly not alone in that business. every chef is the king of their own little kitchen, and many rule like dictators lol. i worked for a guy worse than ramsay - not only did he berate you, he would throw shit at you. then he'd pinch your nipples at the end of the night. but thats another story. he actually wasnt a bad guy, but when it was between 6 and 12 (service time) he became a different person. he's a 4 star chef and now has a very trendy restaurant in NYC now. a lot of chefs are fucked up in the head.

I think it was a bit of a cop out for Richard to enter this competition, he's already a well established chef with a good reputation for what he does in his area, either he's just addicted to fame, egocentric or he has a bad publicist. Anyway, I have a feeling they're going to give the win this season to a chick. but that's just me.
Sous vide salmon? bad idea Richard, next time slow cook it in a 210F oven.

yeah after tonight's episode i'm convinced Richard's going to win it all.
Banana scallops with guacamole and chocolate ice cream? pretty nuts.
It really looks almost too easy for him. I bet he could outcook most of the judges. (save for guys like Eric Ripert, Daniel Boulud, etc)

I'm so sick of Padma, really.
I mean...I want to strangle her almost every episode.

*spoiler below*
Well it looks like it didn't hurt her too bad! 'Cause she took home the title of Top Chef!
Richard ended up making his banana scallop again for the final cookoff, but overall he just didn't put in a good showing on his last battle, and he knew it - admitting full well during the judge's table that he "choked". Though Lisa was also in the final episode, it was quite apparent that she was the underdog and I was not surprised to see Stephanie take it home once I saw the judge's reactions to Richard's dishes.
Good show! Can't wait 'til next season, this show definitely exhibits some fine talent.
