The Rail Gun on Red Faction on the PS2 was one of my favourite weapons ever though after the shotgun from Soldier of Fortune on the Dreamcast. Carnage!!!!

im working on a blueprint right now, and figuring out how much voltage i will need for the rods that will be wrapped with wires, so when i charge them it becomes a giant magnet. i plan on having 5 rods, just i need to figure out how to hold them in place for when i turn the power on so the magnetic force does not push them apart since i want all positive sides going inwards..i may have to weld something.

ill check them out.
im going to be using single phase, and three phase AC/DC motors that are hooked up to 240V power source that will power up the generators

the single and three phase AC/DC motors will be powering the DC generators, i know a DC generator would give the high power i need, but not sure if i should use AC instead.
i need 100AMPS for this or more, so yeah, ill need a MAJOR source of power so DC i think is what i want.

DUDE! me and my buddy made one of these im grade 9 electronics class! no kidding! it was rad to the extreme! :geek:
we blew up a few pennies but got a few good shots of too.
pretty scary though, working with all those high voltage capacitors.
we got our inspiration from "Quake 2" by the way hahaha.
ps. i would recommend using compressed air to give the projectile it's initial velocity. we used a chopstick and it was very inconsistent.
