Habitat: found in moss, near many oak and other trees Gills: pores? bruised tan to dark brown over time Stem: gray covered in darker scales Cap: covered in gray scale type things, the whole mushroom felt pretty fuzzy print color: unable to get spore print Bruising: gills bruised tan when touched to dark brown over time Location: long island, newyork. on the coast

1) http://www.mushroomexpert.com/strobilomyces_floccopus.html 2) Not sure, is this a mature specimen? 3) Lactarius sp., check taste and latex color.

Yeah I wasn't sure about #2, but I'm thinking they were just infected/covered with leaves which stopped them from growing correctly
