seeking advice on monotub polyfil stuffing

ok, made up my first two tubs last weekend. To stuff the holes, i folded over sheets of polyfil about 4 times or so and stuffed them into the hole. i'm not exactly sure how tight the stuffing is, or how tight it should be, but wondering if anyone can give me pointers on how to do it properly.
i'm not too concerned about having it over-stuffed at the moment since i'm colonizing the bulk, but wondering if i should relax the stuffing once i start the fruiting conditions
thanks

From what I understand the stuffing shouldn't be tight, but loose and airy. I was told to ball it up and stuff it in.
It's funny, this is like the simplest part of the tek, yet I'm just as confused as you are when it comes to this.

MM has a pretty good description on how tight your holes should be stuffed with poly. (scroll down the tek)
like mentioned above i like to keep my holes loose and airy for the fae's. i personally like to keep the top holes a little looser than the bottoms to let fresh air get in easier and a little tighter on the bottom so the fan doesnt dry out the casing on the bottom holes

Not to derail the thread but quick question on the bottom holes. I used tyvek for mine, but it seems too heavy duty for proper FAE. I used postal tyvek, HDPE 2. When I tried blowing through it NO air went through, it really does seem way too dense. I've never used tyvek before, maybe I'm just confused.

ive used tyvek before and had good results but prefer poly. when i used it though i only used single layers so id cut the tyvek in half around the edges if you know what i mean.

i found polyfill to be really messing when fruiting. The mushrooms will grow into the stuff and the polyfill actually ends up being INSIDE the mushroom. I prefer not to eat polyfill. I bought some micropore tape from a retail store and just put 3 strips over each hole to cover them. It allows for enough fresh air while keeping contams out. Worked for me, anyway.

yea, that's pretty much what i did, however he still doesn't address how much polyfil or what density it should be packed...
i guess i'm just going to re-pack the holes very loosely when i start to fruit these suckers.

Its a good idea to have more in the top then the bottom. This will allow the CO2 to easily escape out the bottom while not allowing too much moisture to escape. You still dont want it PACKED in there. Just enough so it fits without falling out.

the co2 in the fruiting chamber doesn't drop to the bottom it flows evenly throughout it doesn't really matter where the polyfil holes are

yea, i do not understand the dogmatic beleif in this community believes that CO2 is 'heavier' than O2. i mean, it has a higher ATOMIC mass, but not so much that it will sink below oxygen and other gasses that make up air. mass transport processes are really what control this.
Imagine for a second that co2 did 'sink' below the other gasses in air... our lungs would fill almost instantly with co2 and we would suffocate. also, the entire surface of earth would be covered in layers of co2, so none of us would exist.
this nonsense needs to stop now!!

It seems that worrying about contamination during fruiting is a moot point. The healthy myc has already established itself as the dominate life form on, (or in), your grow medium. I may be mistaken, but from everything I've read, FAE is your main concern when fruiting...
(Please don't kill me, I'm just trying to put your mind at ease concerning removing your poly-fil altogether.)

** i know this post is old, but this is genius and literally solves that question in one answer, undebatable. We obviously wouldnt be able to survive if co2 sunk . So simple 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks! Haha
