Yes, it's only to better aereate the substrate....also vermicule it's needed for fruing stage (in cakes), it acts like an internal casing...
If you want to case your cakes verm it's not needed...

Thanks. I am planning to case the substrate. I was also thinking about adding some wild bird seed and coarsley ground soy beans into the mix for shits and grins. :biggrin:
