Firefox 3 question
    #8586754 - 07/02/08 04:44 AM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Excuse my ignorance. Is Firefox 3 in beta or has it already been officially released?

"If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution - then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise." - Aldous Huxley

I dont mind it at all.  Maybe its not much of an improvement, but I have encountered no negatives.

All I know is that it won't play videos on one of my favorite websites from FF2.

How is it with memory?  The thing I hate most about FF2 is memory leaks.  Without fail I usually have to shut it down and restart it after a couple of days because it's sucked up so much memory.  It gets unstable, with crazy fonts and text size on pages, videos won't play through the browser.  Very irritating.

you browse for a couple days at a time??  Even still, there shouldn't be memory leaks.

I leave the browser open, yeah.  I have multiple copies of a program I use for trading that stay running 24/7, so I never turn my computer off.  I only reboot it every once in a while when it starts acting up and the cause of it acting up is usually Firefox.

I've done a complete wipe of Firefox (more than just uninstalling it) and I still always have the same problems.

They fixed the memory leaks, finally. Though there are still extensions going around with leaks in them.

I upgraded to FF3 and it is full of all kinds of irritating bugs. I think I'm going back to FF2 tomorrow.

I don't like FF3, but the memory management is much improved.
