Going on the fifth day and no visible sign of colonization on any of the 24 jars. Incubating at 80 F.
I noticed my verm is finer grade than what most people use here, but it's definitely not packed and there is empty air pockets all over.
There is no water condensation / small droplets on the glass inside the jars. Is this normal? I am thinking they may be a bit dry, but I have no way of gauging this.

patience man. 5 days is still in the period of germination for spores. If there nothing in a week and a half-2 weeks then start to wonder.

Patience is indeed a virtue. ~ 10 % colonization in half the jars. We'll see how many of them actually make it all the way.
Also to any other n00bz like myself who happen to see this, search the cultivation forum for "RR notes". I saw this suggestion in another thread a few min ago and read these notes (gathered and posted by dumbfounded1600) and feel that it answered every single question I was about to come back and post here after reading a lot of conflicting info. I know most answers can be found by searching, but my n00b opinion feels that it is beneficial to bookmark RR notes.
Thank you RR! Thank you everyone else!
Shroom on.

Re: First timer mistake - do you think my PF-TEK jars still have a chance? [Re: bahaiDOTorg]

bahaiDOTorg said: Hi all,
So I just inoculated my first batch of PF-TEK jars for my first grow. When opening the aluminum foil I realized that my syringes shipped with very thick needles that wouldn't fit through the holes I had made pre-sterilization in the lid. Basically I had to open the jars to inoculate one by one...
I have pretty much sprayed an entire bottle of Lysol into the room throughout the day and a few minutes before starting. I also sanitized the needle with alcohol and flame after every jar and wiped down the surfaces with alcohol multiple times throughout inoculation as well as spraying the still air with Lysol again midway through the jars.
Each jar was exposed to ambient air for ~20 seconds for the first few and as little as ~10 seconds in the later ones when I got the hang of it. I was also wearing a face mask, clean clothes, and had covered my hair for the process.
So my question is, did I completely F up, or just slightly? Do they still have a chance?
Ironic how my attempts to be super sanitized ended up completely the opposite way...
I finished my first grow about 1 month ago with PF cakes, and I did the exact same thing, i was stressed out about it the whole time thinking it was a failure but i stuck with it each of my 8 cakes eventually turned out and produced , colonization took forever.. fruiting took awhile, and i followed the youtube pf cake guide almost to the T, just keep trying dont give up
haha dont forget to bake the vermiculite

That exact thing happend to me, I didn't think the needle was going to be that big so when I started to inoculate I realized I had to make the holes bigger, I just used the ice pick and it all worked out, I hope

Just an update:
I guess my inoculating the jars in open air (with open lids) was not at all detrimental. I have two possible contaminations out of 24 jars.
A few are done colonizing and the rest will be in the coming days.
I spawned two of the BRF cakes to plain coir (pH balanced) last night (1:4).
