When you pour off the second time, you are pouring off the water vinegar solution you added from the second time. You don't add all the water vinegar at once, you do 2-3 baths with about 1\2 - 2\3 of the solution respectively. If you need anything else cleared up lemme know.

One more question for clarification. I am ordering 1 lb ground up mimosa; should I put all of it into the crockpot right off the bat and then add the water/vinegar solution? Or, say, put half of it into the crockpot, add the solution, heat for 2 hours and pour out, then add the other half (followed by the solution)?

Ya do the whole pound at once, With say 1\2 of the vinegar water solution each time.

Once you have poured off all the liquid that you can, double layer a cotton T shirt, and pour the sludge on top over a 5 gallon bucket.

Let it strain and then squish the water out of the slop, high alkaloid content in that sludge!!

Then put this in a smaller container, heat a little, and allow to settle.

Siphon off the water layer with a turkey baster, or just add the slightly sludgy water with the rest of it.
