I've had these for about a week and for a few days they looked fine, stressed from travel but fine none the less. Then one started to wilt and get progressively worse, now i come home today and the other one is wilting and turning black in some spots as well. I don't want to lose these so any help would be very greatly appreciated. They were raised in ambient humidity so i kept them like that, they have only been watered once (very sparingly too) and misted a few times.

Id give them some water. My plants only bend over like that when they want water. As for the blackening on the leaves. Im not sure. But I would give them water.

the soil looks DRY the leaf damage is either due to lack of humidity (most likely) or too much humidity as if the leaf had standing water on it (not dark enough damage)
give the thing some water!

- Hey I would give it a nice sprinkle of water and see if she perks up. Then soil looks a little too dry. Use your finger to test the soil, keep moist but not bogged.
-Also don't use sink water. Usually has trace elements that burn the leaves. Purified water is what most plants need. "rain water works wonders catch a little and see"
-The browning of the leaves seems to be lack of humidity something all to common with salvia. Sometimes they are more severe due to how babied the cutting was with humidity prior to you receiving it. Best thing to do is get a humidifier and point it right at your plant. This is very effective and is alot more efficient then misting which to me sucks for salvia.
- If you are looking to tent her up with a humidity dome be sure to set up something to maintain airflow. Old computer fans works wonders.
Clean Water Fresh Air Good Compost Humidity
What lighting are you using too? that may be a major factor.

after a day in a humidity tent and some light watering they perked right up, thanks for the help everybody. I was being very careful not to over water these ones because last year i had 2 succumb to root rot.

I would also repot. Salvia likes alot of room to spread her roots out, so I would put them in at least an 18 inch or so container.

I just bought pots yesterday, i'm still not sure what kind of soil mix im going to use, i have coir, miracle grow, perlite, homemade compost, and a 40lb bag of manure/compost mix. There is a little research to be done before i pot these up.

Salvias will thrive in just about any medium so long as there is adequate drainage. I use roughly 40 percent soil, 10 percent compost, 25 percent perlite and 25 percent vermiculite. Ive also used miracle grow organic potting mix and added extra perlite for extra drainage and the plants loved it.

mine love miracle grow, putting some rocks or broken up clay pots in the bottom of a pot helps stave off root rot, and it also makes transplanting easier when its time to. good luck on the plants, root rot is the goddamn devil

try mixin in some vermeculite in the soil before movin them to bigger pots.. you might as well use the biggest pot you can fit in your flat right away. plants know when you go cheap with them. plants can feel where the boundarys are. if you transplant them dont worry if they wont grow the first 2 weeks or so. they will be building up rootpower. at first its a little tricky to maintain the right moistness of the soil, because the roots will only be in the middle.. i usually only water the middle plus 1 or 2 cm around it. add another 2 cm every 2 days or so. that way you wont have alotta wet soil where there are no roots.
