According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, authorities have found a major marijuana growing operation in Cocke County.
A Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter pilot spotted the marijuana plants growing in the Cherokee National Forest about five miles from where Interstate 40 crosses the Tennessee-North Carolina state line.
At the scene, agents found 357,500 plants -- more than the Governor's Task Force on Marijuana Eradication confiscated in all of 2007.
According to the TBI, they would have had a street value of approximately $700 million at maturity.
The operation included a campsite though no one was found guarding the patch.
The Task Force on Marijuana Eradication includes the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Alcohol Beverage Commission, Tennessee Highway Patrol and National Guard Counter Drug Task Force.

though that is fairly close, I doubt that will affect me at all. with that number of outdoor plants the quality could not have been that great. sucks for other people though

Actually, the outdoor red haired sensimellia from Tennessee and Kentucky is some of the best outdoor buds in the nation. This is where the strain "HOG" came from and one the cannabis cup not long ago, seeds were smuggled from Knoxville, TN, which is where I am from, (don't live there n0w)

Although the buds from hat area are good this grow was probably being tended by illegal aliens. That is the trend on the west coast now. The mexican mafia puts up these massive grows right here inside the US and puts illegals on them guarding and tending. They put up several of them and if even one maes it they are happy.

dude you dont even know what your talking about, your making assumptions with no evidence. and how could you possibly know the growing trends in all parts of the country by sitting at your computer. every single outdoor grower that i know in california is white. I also like how you threw in the mafia with your statement.....lol you crack me up

and just because every grower you know is white doesnt mean that his statement isn't accurate. when he says mafia hes talking about the Mexican Mafia, which accounts for a huge deal of the drug trade all over the US.
I really doubt that anyone you know is putting up an operation as massive as this one and the others that are financed by these drug cartels and manned by illegals here in the US. That is their business, and usually every grow they front (which is fucking enormous) is located in state parks.
so before you resort to being an asshole, know your shit.

Seriously? He never said anything about trends "all over the country", just about the west coast. It was clear he was speculating by his use of the word "probably". I don't think what he said is by any means an outlandish theory but I do think your attack was unjustified.
About this though, I can't help but think this was really fucking stupid. Nearly 400,000 plants?!?! That's just too big of a sign saying come catch me.

That's the tactics in Texas and it's evident every year about 3 months into the season u start seeing busts averaging 100K plants with irrigation systems set up for them, and within the evidence found is typically duffle bags with food such as tortillas, tomato's, oranges, and cans of pinto beans.
It's obvious it's mexican mafia fronted, that it's only 1 of a few hundred places set up around dallas/fort worth just like it.
The rich white boys rent/buy houses and set the entire house up for hydro buds...
wooots
i'd imagine it's no different in any other state.
obviously in each state you got your good old country boys growing their buds too im sure...
now, Humboldt County is a different story, MecCA
I don't see why MidnightRider was given hell over his post? I agree with what he says. I can paint the rest of the picture myself just by his speculations.
