Nyquil and Alcohol tests....
    #8558774 - 06/24/08 03:22 PM (15 years, 7 months ago)

Because Nyquil has a bit of alcohol in it, will it register on a breathalyzer or other alcohol testing equivalents?

Always been curious about this and it just came up.

Thanks.

It just came up?  Did you get a DUI after downing a bottle of cough syrup or something?

No I meant that I just thought about it and thought that you guys might know. People drink all kinds of stuff, Nyquil, Rubbing Alcohol (old) Mouthwash, just wondering if it registers on any tests.

I think if you dont drink more than the prescribed amount you dont have anything to worry about

it will show up with the new urine screening for alcohol.  it can detect even trace amounts of alcohol up to 5 days after consumption.  but i dont believe those tests are used all over yet.  emphasis on the word yet.  sigh.

^^ yea, but those tests also read the amount in the urine, & there going to obviously know you werent consuming an "alcoholics" amount

& every test Ive ever taken cant read alcohol after 24 hours usually

ya if its a breathalizer and uve got 24 hours you are more then in the clear.  but people who get tested with the urine arent as lucky.  they dont care if it was only a little bit. to them one beer is just as bad as a case.  i wouldnt count on sympathy to get you thru.  and im sure theyve heard the "nyquil" excuse a thousand times.
