Help picking CPU chip
    #8555119 - 06/23/08 04:56 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

I am looking for a replacement cpu for an old computer that was given to me.  The guy decided to take the cpu out to see what it looked like. (dumb, I know)  When he went to put it back in he bent and snapped about 40 pins on it.  So he gave me the computer for free.

I am looking for a list of supported processors for this computer.  I have tried looking but my google skills aren't up to par on this for some reason.

The computer is a HP Pavillion 563w.

The numbers I got of the motherboard are as follows
Quote:

Mat, NO:134841  Imperial GL VE 20020930

The numbers on the Processor are
Quote:

Intel ©01
Pentium®4
2.40GHZ/512/400/1.525V
SL6GS COSTA RICA
3241A019-0398

In between the intel and the copyright symbol it has a M inside a circle just like a copyright symbol, but I couldn't find it in the character map.

I found the exact same chip online, but I am wondering if i can get one that is a little faster.

Any help appreciated.

that is a socket 478 motherboard, so any s478 chip should work fine.

http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL6GS

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116215

would be a good replacement, I didn't look any where else though.

peace

just solder the pins back on the chip   or you little wires and put them in the pin holes, then put the chip on and hope the pins make contact with the wires and glue it in place or something like that.

would be a cheap fix if you get it right

On second thought I dont think I will be dealing with this company.  Very poor reviews, selling non working used parts as new, bad shipping, poor customer service, among other problems.

nope, just a site that compares prices of products, though its reviewers gave the site a 4 out of 5.
