This was the problem that got me out of bed this morning. :smile: Fungi Perfecti sells 12"x12" sheets of rubber latex which seems like a match, like $10 a sheet though. I'd like to find a cheap source and play around.

Better yet, get some medical waste free, cut off the cap, and attach it to a jar lid somehow..

Another idea, make a big hole large enough to fit a cork in. Have a hole drilled in the cork. The problem with this is cork-chunks may get in your needle, and you'll have limited access to where the needle goes.

Hi guys....
And what you think about a simple drop of silicone??
I usually take a print directly in a jar with water, and in the lid there's a hole sealed with a big drop of heat resistant silicone.
I've been using a jar for more than 6 months storen in the fridge without any care and never got contams...

hmm, good ideas..
im really interested in this because i have been given shots with large bore needles simmilar to those used in cultivation..
i thougth that regular rubber would not reseal as this does.. but it may.. scavengeing isnt hard for me, i will definately get as much as i can

yeah, think about the uses of rubber latex to CULTIVATION though.

Preferably I'd like some attachment that doesn't use metal so it can be microwaved. heh Get to work Moe.

i have been using rubber medical tipe lids from a year to make syringues... but as other post here i use now silicone to close the 4 holes i do in my lid jars to innoculate..and also to make syringues...i dont use vermiculite anymore.. silicone is the best choice... remembet to use the transparent silicone type as the other types dont work as well

Hey Guys,
I have been using those vials of sterile
RNA quality water for injections (Mo those
are the ones you should ask your wife about!)
100 ml in size.
They have a silicone rubber seal on top and
can be reinjected many times.
I use 1 print to a 100ml bottle that way you
get 10 syringes to a bottle and they are
dark and cloudy.
I am trying to make 1 with 2.5cc of honey to see what happens.

hey Club99, with your drop of silicon, is that one a nail-size hole? Also, you you have to re-silicon it every time you stick a needle through, or does it stay put and reseal?

I remember hearing of it before, but my friend was playing with corks at the time.

WOW...I got lucky when I hit this thread! I've been looking around for some petri dishes and some syringes, and in my search....I found these

Also...FP sells something called "Parafilm". Here's a description taken from the site...

Parafilm

Yes, it's a nail size hole, with a BIG drop of silicone that reseals by itself.
BTW i'm talking about syringes with needle for humans, good for spores but not for liquid mycelium teks...
A word of caution: If you close air tight your jars the sterilization will produce a negative pressure that will suck ALL your syringe into the jar. Best to tight the lids after sterilization.
